MAD Lions set to sign Armut & Elyoya

According to a report made by Jacob Wolf of ESPN Esports, MAD Lions are set to sign SuperMassive’s top laner Armut, as well as Movistar Rider’s Jungler Elyoya. Here below is a link to his report:

Who is Armut?

21-year old İrfan “Armut” Berk Tükek is currently playing for SuperMassive in the top lane role. He has played under numerous Turkish rosters; however, he has been most successful in his current team. He has shown the world his capabilities on the 2020 World Championship stage, and is certainly deserving of the spot. Especially after his outstanding performance during the play-ins stage.

What about Elyoya?

Javier “Elyoya“ Prades is Movistar Riders’ current main Jungler. His professional League of Legends career started in 2019, where he was playing for a team named GGaming. Despite his very limited experience as a professional player, Elyoya has shown that he’s one of Europe’s most talented Junglers.

MAD Lions set to sign deals with Armut & Elyoya –  Why?

This decision was probably caused after a review of their Worlds 2020 results, after getting knocked out of the event by SuperMassive in the playoffs of the play-ins. MAD Lions being the only European team of 4 to not make it into groups was extremely disappointing, and hence, changes have to be made.

It will be very exciting to see what would happen if the deal eventually goes through as these 2 players are extremely talented and have loads of potential.

Worlds 2020 Day 9 Recap – DAMWON Gaming Chew DRX

Now that we’ve entered the Quarterfinals, our daily recaps will work differently. We’ll be focusing entirely on the match of the day, which in this case is the exciting rivalry between DAMWON Gaming and DRX. Indeed, it’s been an ongoing battle all year in the LCK and now at Worlds 2020. Read on to learn how these giants faced off.

Credits: LoL Esports Twitter

Heading into the series, we predicted that although DAMWON Gaming was likely to win thanks to recent performances, DRX had a chance. Accordingly, DRX could have stopped DAMWON Gaming in their tracks and reclaim their place. That is definitely not what took place, quite the opposite in fact.

DAMWON Gaming has arguably, been the most dangerous team at Worlds 2020. After their slip up in the Group Stage, losing out to JD Gaming, they were eager to prove their dominance once again. They did so with an astounding 3-0 sweep DRX.

Credits: Worlds 2020 Twitter

The first map proved to be the longest too – DRX did their best to hold their ground before DAMWON Gaming came marching in straight for the nexus. From that point onwards, DAMWON Gaming kept pressing down on DRX’s neck without hesitation, easily squeezing out two more maps.

Just like that, DAMWON Gaming are your first semi-finalists at Worlds 2020 – no surprise there. After proving their regional dominance, the global victory is within reach.

New League of Legends champion Seraphine abilities revealed

Yesterday, Riot Games tweeted out that they will be releasing a new champion in the support role. The champion’s name is Seraphine and she will be the 152nd champion to be released in the entirety of League of Legends. Here is their announcement:

Here is a video from SkinSpotlights, highlighting Seraphine’s abilities:

Abilities

  • Passive – Stage Presence
    • Every third basic ability Seraphine casts will echo, automatically casting a second time. Additionally, whenever she casts an ability nearby an ally, she will create a Note. Each Note gives her basic attacks more attack range and deal additional magic damage, consuming the Note.
  • Q – High Note
    • Seraphine projects a pure note. This deals damage and is increased by the target’s missing health percentage.
  • W – Surround Sound
    • Seraphine surrounds her nearby allies in a song, granting herself and her allies movement speed and a shield. If Seraphine is already shielded, she can heal her nearby allies, restoring health based on how many allies are near her.
  • E – Beat Drop
    • Seraphine unleashes a heavy soundwave, that deals magic damage to enemies in a line and slows them. Enemies that are already slowed are rooted, and already rooted enemies are stunned.
  • R – Encore
    • Seraphine projects a captivating force that charms enemies and deals magic damage. Any champions struck (allies included) become part of the performance, extending the range of the ability and granting allies maximum Notes.

If you are still figuring out Seraphine’s passive, make sure you check out this video to get a clearer idea:

Will Seraphine have a skin on release?

Upon release, Seraphine will be available with a K/DA ALL OUT skin theme, to celebrate the upcoming K/DA EP, ALL OUT. Here below is an image of what it will look like from one evolution to another:

How will she impact the current champion pool?

It will be very interesting to see a new support in the champion pool. Seraphine will most probably be preferred over some other healing champions like Soraka or Sona. However it is very hard to predict how well she’ll do at the highest level of League of Legends. She will certainly create more options in the Support role and will definitely be a champion to look out for heading into preseason 11.

LoL Worlds 2020 Quarterfinals – Schedule, Format and Predictions

Reaching the halfway point, the LoL Worlds 2020 event has finally reached the Knockout Stage. Indeed, acting as the most popular esports event of the year, here at esportsguide we’re simply loving it. Accordingly, we’re happily offering even more coverage – read on for the Quarterfinals Schedule and Predictions!

LoL Worlds 2020 Group Stage – A Quick Review

If you haven’t managed to catch any of our daily reviews, we’ll review how the Group Stage rounded off. Across 8 days of matches, a double-round robin led us to the final 8 teams which now stand. Here’s how all four groups concluded:

Worlds 2020 Final Groups

Evidently, the following teams have seeded themselves into the Knockout Stage:

  • Top Esports
  • Fnatic
  • Suning
  • Gen.G
  • DAMWON Gaming
  • DRX
  • G2 Esports
  • JD Gaming

Schedule and Format for LoL Worlds 2020 Quarterfinals

In terms of format, it’s relatively simple. A single-elimination bracket will involve BO5 (best-of-five) matches. This means that all it takes is a single loss for a team to pack up and leave the event. Bearing this in mind, we have some phenomenal matches to look forward too.

Seeding for the Knockout Stage was carried out randomly. First place teams faced second-place teams thanks to a random draw. Each of the four Quarterfinals will occupy one match-day, engaging the full attention from the community. Occupying the same timeslot on each day, here’s the schedule for the LoL Worlds 2020 Quarterfinals.

15th October

  • DAMWON Gaming vs DRX (12:00)

16th October

  • Suning vs JD Gaming (12:00)

17th October

  • Top Esports vs Fnatic (12:00)

18th October

  • Gen.G vs G2 Esports (12:00)

At the end of the Quarterfinals, there’ll be only four teams standing and competing for the season title.

Match by Match Predictions – Continental Rivalries

Looking at the match-ups, it’s evident that we’re in for some superb games. Beyond the fact that the competition is tight, there are certain continental rivalries which are worth highlighting. Why? It’s for the simple reason that these teams would have whole seasons of practice against one another and hence, can adapt better.

DAMWON Gaming vs DRX – Can DRX Strike Back?

The entire LCK 2020 Summer season revolved around the continuous battle between the top two teams of DRX and DAMWON Gaming. For the first half of the year, it seemed that DRX had the advantage and seemingly, an assured winning seed. However, DAMWON Gaming managed to pull together a massive 7 win streak to claim the win.

Worlds 2020 - DMW Profile Day 1

Since then, DAMWON Gaming has been on the rise, winning the LCK 2020 Summer Playoffs and dominating their Worlds 2020 group. For these reasons, I see DAMWON Gaming coming out on top. However, DRX definitely have a shot.

Suning vs JD Gaming – Two LPL Contenders

It’s without a doubt that the top team from the LPL is Top Esports. Beneath them stand Suning and JD Gaming. Throughout the LPL season, these two teams have regularly matched up against one another and for the most part, JD Gaming has come out on top.

lgdworlds

Despite this, so far at the event, both teams have had equal performances in their respective groups. I’m expecting a continental showdown with classic LPL gameplay – if I had to pick one, JD Gaming would be my pick.

Top Esports vs Fnatic – Can Fnatic Steal it?

Although Fnatic managed to get through their group, the next obstacle is far greater. Top Esports has looked unbeatable all event, losing out once only. However, being from two continents does offer some variance – can Fnatic’s playstyle throw off Top Esports. In my opinion, I doubt Fnatic will manage to pull this off at LoL Worlds 2020.

Gen.G vs G2 Esports Honestly Indecisive

geng
Credits: LoL Esports Flickr

Out of the four matches, this one is the least clear-cut. Yes, G2 Esports may have been the best team from the LEC all year, but Gen.G encounters much stronger competition in the LCK. Bearing that in mind and their strong performances so far, it’s tough to call. Overall, I would give Gen.G the slight edge, but it’ll depend on who shows up on the day.

League of Legends Tips and Tricks – A Practical Guide

Here at esportsguide, we strive to educate our readers and guide them on all aspects of esports. While we’ve tackled topics in content pieces such as our State of the Community and Understanding the Industry articles, there’s so much more. Indeed, read on for our LoL Tips and Tricks, where we try to help you improve your game.

Specifically, we’ll be focusing on titles which esportsguide offers coverage over – the largest esports in the world. In this first episode, we’re looking at the popular MOBA, League of Legends.

Mechanical Skills

Like any other MOBA, movement involves operating the mouse and clicking where you wish for your champion to proceed. Naturally, you’ll want to control the distance maintained between yourself and opponents, maintaining a balance between being passive and over-aggressive. Take the following highlight reel as an example:

Credits: Kaza LoL LCS Highlights/Worlds 2020

This is where the skill of kiting may develop. This essential technique involves an incredible number of precise mouse clicks in order to maintain this perfect distance in all situations. Indeed, this applies to aggression, defense, late and pre-game. Notably, understanding your champion’s movement speed and characteristic is essential here.

Here are some tips:

  • Have a plan against the specific enemy champion
  • Use distance effectively to trade during encounters
  • Stutter stepping
  • Enable the Auto-Attack Move to strike at the longest distance possible
  • Bait aggressive players and maintain your own patience

Watching competitive play, you’ll notice that professionals never stop moving. That’s why it’s part of our LoL Tips and Tricks. Mechanically, having a sound reaction speed and full mastery over all of your inputs will help too.

In-Game Knowledge and Awareness

In-Game knowledge and awareness is definitely more important in competitive MOBAs – intelligence is everything. We’ll show you why thanks to the following array of LoL Tips and Tricks as shown below:

  • Warding – especially for Support players, it’s essential to ward where you’d like to have vision on the map for your team
  • Knowing the information of champions – teammates, lane and general opponents
  • Building your own pool of champions – in order to climb ranks, it’s pivotal to be able to adapt to every situation with a calculated choice of champion.
LoL Tips and Tricks Patch Notes Examle
  • Being wary of power spikes – knowing when champions are at their most dangerous
  • Involving yourself in teamfights/ganks when optimal
  • Utilizing the correct items at the right time depending on the situation and your champion
  • Managing resources: gold and mana
  • Making the most of runes and summoner spells
  • Map awareness and understanding pings
  • Keeping up with the meta and patches
  • Adapting to how the game progresses – pre-game, mid-game and late-game all offer their own strategies apart from defence and offence.

This is what makes MOBA’s the pinnacle of the esports industry. No other genre lays out so much information for the player to know. Players need to study champion characteristics inside out – to know their weaknesses and strengths.

Together with the champions, the endless variables of runes, items, summoner spells make becoming better quite tough at first. We recommend working on what you’re struggling with first and trying to widen your horizons as you progress.

Personal and Interpersonal – LoL Tips and Tricks

Due to the way LoL can fluctuate through patches and meta-shifts, it can get frustrating to constantly adapt. Beyond that, it is, above anything, a team game. Which is why the following personal and interpersonal LoL Tips and Tricks are worth considering:

  • Working on your attitude – do not play simply for the rank. Play to learn, to help others learn and to be receptive to feedback. Like this you’re sure to learn.
  • Make the right plays – perfect play every time? No, but to experiment constantly in order to allow for more flexible decision making.
  • Communicating with teammates – offering essential and relevant information
  • Taking a loss – sometimes a loss isn’t entirely your fault with so many roles. Just make sure to focus on what you are doing and help out as you can
suningwinning

  • Warm-up before ranked – don’t jump into ranked sessions without first warming up and expect results
  • If possible, play with teammates who you can discuss games with afterwards in order to learn appropriately
  • Take breaks, maintain a positive attitude and stop when overly frustrated
  • Learn from the professionals and regularly watch top tier events

Those are our Tips and Tricks for League of Legends! We hope you find that helpful to both increasing your rank and appreciation for the esport too.

Highlight of the Day

Across the board, hopes were high for FlyQuest to possibly make it out of the Group. Accordingly, with each team taking care of Unicorns of Love, I’d say that the first match-up of the day acts as our highlight of the day.

Indeed, that first match between DRX and FlyQuest decided the entire group and both teams knew it. Pouring their soul into the game, DRX managed to come away with the victory and ensure qualification and avoid a tiebreaker. Otherwise, Top Esports has looked incredible.

By forging through, DRX has upheld the reputation of the LCK with all three teams moving forward. On this note, no Play-In teams or NA teams made it through.

We’ll be breaking down the bracket very shortly too. To not miss a bit, stay tuned in to https://www.esportsguide.com/news.

Worlds 2020 Day 7 Recap – Gen.G Dominate Group C

At Worlds 2020, Group C always offered immense potential due to the teams involved. Indeed, seven days later, the group has been concluded with Gen.G from the LCK coming out on top – the second team from the region to proceed to the Knockout Stage. Bearing that in mind, read on for our Day 7 recap!

Schedule Results for Worlds 2020

  • Fnatic vs Team SoloMid (1-0)
  • LGD Gaming vs Gen.G (0-1)
  • Team SoloMid vs Gen.G (0-1)
  • Fnatic vs LGD Gaming (1-0)
  • LGD Gaming vs Team SoloMid (1-0)
  • Gen.G vs Fnatic (1-0)

Format Update for Worlds 2020

Here’s a conclusive look at Group C for Worlds 2020:

Worlds 2020 Group C

Highlight of the Day

Unlike Group B, leadership boiled down to the very final face-off between Gen.G and Fnatic. With Fnatic managing to claim the first match-up last week, Gen.G would not repeat the same mistake. Indeed, after a hot two-win-streak, they made quick work of Fnatic to claim the first seed in our highlight of the Day.

Quite notably, Team SoloMid has offered the worst performance at the event so far, not winning a single match-up.

Tomorrow, the final Group will be concluded and we’ll have our final two teams for the double-elimination bracket. Will all three LCK teams make it through?

Worlds 2020 Day 6 Recap – DAMWON Shown to Be Mortal

Indeed, as we discussed after yesterday’s action, DAMWON Gaming had the chance to finish their group undefeated. Day 6 saw the conclusion of Group B and resultantly, DAMWON Gaming losing their first match of Worlds 2020. Bearing this in mind, let’s dive into how the schedule and group conclude in another esportsguide daily recap.

Schedule Results for Worlds 2020

  • PSG Talon vs DAMWON Gaming (0-1)
  • Rogue vs JD Gaming (0-1)
  • DAMWON Gaming vs Rogue (1-0)
  • JD Gaming vs PSG Talon (0-1)
  • PSG Talon vs Rogue (1-0)
  • JD Gaming vs DAMWON Gaming (1-0)

Format Update for Worlds 2020

Here’s how Group B concluded at the largest esports event of the year:

Worlds 2020 Group B Final

Highlight of the Day

Without a doubt, the final match of the day is certainly the highlight. While DAMWON Gaming had already claimed the first seed of the group and JD Gaming the second – things got interesting. Perhaps DAMWON Gaming took the competition for granted, but JD Gaming managed to stun the competition by taking the series.

A high-level game went the way of JD Gaming. Just like that, DAMWON Gaming look a lot more mortal and beatable. Of course, they’re still a massive threat to win, but no longer ‘godly’.

Worlds 2020 Champion Pick rates, Win rates, and Bans

This year at Worlds 2020, we’ve seen quite a variety when it comes to team compositions and champions picks. In previous years we always saw the same 10-15 champions getting picked, and this resulted in very predictable matches. This year however, a total of 78 different champions were played in the play-in stage.

Riot Games

Play-in Stage

As mentioned above, during the play-in stage we saw 78 different champions on the Summoner’s rift. We saw a lot of varying champions in all roles, even in the jungle role. What about specific statistics like Pick rates, bans and win rates?

Worlds 2020 Champion Pick Rates

Let’s start with the picks first. The most picked champion in the play-in stage was Leona in the support role, and she was picked 18 times. In 2nd, we have good old Graves with 17 picks, and in 3rd we have Lillia with 16 picks. Some other notable mentions are Senna, Sett, Rakan, Ezreal, Camille and Jhin, getting picked 12 times and above.

Leona Riot Games e

Ban Rates

With regards to bans, we have Nidalee leading as she was banned a total of 23 times during play-ins. If a champion like Nidalee gets a head-start in a match she can easily snowball matches. So it makes sense that she takes the top spot for bans. Tied in 2nd place are Ornn and Orianna with 22 bans each. With Ornn’s strong utility kit, he is extremely useful in team-fights, so it makes sense to take him out of the game completely. As for Orianna, we know how strong the champion is in both laning phase and team fights, so it makes perfect sense that it was the most banned mid lane champion.

Nidalee Riot Games

Win Rates

Last but not least, champion win rates. We will not be mentioning champions that had a very high win rate and a low pick rate, as that would defeat the purpose of the demographic. Topping the leaderboard, we have a tie with two of the champions mentioned above, Ornn and Orianna. These 2 champions have a win rate of 91% after getting picked 11 times each. Which is crazy when you think about it because that means that these champions only lost once. Closely behind them is Graves with a 71% win rate over 17 picks. Meshing it altogether, it makes perfect sense that these champions were the most banned after analyzing their win rates.

Orianna Riot Games

Group Stage

Now that we’ve gone over the stats in the play-ins, it’s time to move on to the current phase of the event, the Group Stage.

Worlds 2020 Champion Pick Rates

First up, champion Pick rates. Syndra and Graves lead the pack, both having 19 picks during the Group stage (so far). Syndra being such a reliable champion in the midlane with her zoning and insta-kill ultimate is always a great pick to one-shot an enemy champion, so definitely expected to see her being picked the most. Graves on the other hand seems to be a solid pick in the jungle, as we’ve already seen during the play-in stage. With the fast camp clearing tools in the jungle, multiple escape abilities and burst power he is definitely a strong champion and will continue to get picked unless banned during groups.

Syndra
Credits: Riot Games

Ban Rates

Ban wise, we see a new champion emerging in first place as Lucian tops the leaderboard with 22 bans and only 5 picks. Lucian is also another solid option in the midlane with his great wave clearing and poke damage, as well as his mobility so it makes sense to see him getting removed the most. In 2nd we have Twisted Fate, a great champion when it comes to assisting in ganks and cleaning up low HP champions. And finally we see a familiar champion getting banned as Ornn takes 3rd place in the ban rate leaderboard.

Lucian
Credits: Riot Games

Win Rates

Surprisingly, with regards to win rates, we see a familiar champion leading the win rates. Lucian leads the pack with a 100% win rate after getting picked only 5 times out of 27 games. This is definitely the reasoning behind his enormous ban percentage, and further supports the fact that Lucian is currently one of the best mid laners within the current meta.

Weirdly, despite Syndra having the highest pick rate, she is currently suffering in terms of win rate, as she is currently sitting at 32% out of 19 games played. It seems like despite having a low win rate, Syndra is still a reliable champion to pick and that she is not the weakest link within the team composition. Volibear has also been a decent pick with a 57% win rate out of 14 games played. Surely there are better options, such as Ornn, Camille or Renekton; however Volibear seems like he has found his place within the current meta as well.

Riot Games Ornn e

Overall we can conclude that there are a lot of similarities between the play-in stage and the group stage in statistical terms. Some highlighted champions during Worlds 2020 are:

  • Ornn in the Top Lane
  • Graves in the Jungle
  • Lucian in the Mid Lane
  • Senna in the Bottom Lane
  • Leona as the Support

This year’s League of Legends World Championship is proving to be one of the biggest esports events in history, and we cannot wait to see how it progresses forward. Make sure to keep yourself updated and informed by tuning in to www.esportsguide.com for more Worlds 2020 and esports news!

Worlds 2020 Day 5 Recap – Suning Claims the First Seed

Indeed, heading into Day 5, Group A was on everybody’s mind. Concluding the second round robin of the Group, all eyes were on G2 Esports and Suning to see who’d take the first seed. While Team Liquid had the potential for an upset, and did manage to steal a series, it was all for nothing. Our daily recaps of Worlds 2020 continue with the action – here’s a Day 5 recap!

Schedule Results for Worlds 2020

  • Team Liquid vs G2 Esports (0-1)
  • Machi Esports vs Suning (0-1)
  • G2 Esports vs Machi Esports (1-0)
  • Suning vs Team Liquid (0-1)
  • Team Liquid vs Machi Esports (1-0)
  • Suning vs G2 Esports (1-0)
  • Tiebreak – Suning vs G2 Esports (1-0)

Format Update for Worlds 2020

Here’s how Group A concluded at the largest esports event in the world:

Worlds 2020 Day 5 Recap

Highlight of the Day

Without question, even though Team Liquid beating Suning was impressive, the tiebreaker is our highlight of the day. With G2 and Suning having won one of their encounters, it was a BO3 that was meant to be. The rematch ended up with Suning ultimately coming out on top and claiming the first seed.

Tomorrow, Day 6, will witness the completion of Group B. Can DAMWON Gaming finish the group undefeated or will JD Gaming pull something out of a hat?
