Team Liquid set to sign Alphari

According to an ESPN Esports report by Jacob Wolf, Team Liquid are set to sign Alphari to their main League of Legends roster. Here below is the report:

Team Liquid set to sign Alphari – Who is Alphari?

21-year old Barney “Alphari” Morris is a professional League of Legends which specializes in the Top lane role. He has had quite an intermediate LoL career, as he started his pro career back in 2015 with Enigma Esports. Most of his successful moments were during the 2017 World Championship, when he was playing for Misfits and placed 5-8th. Not only that, but he also achieved a 2nd place during the 2017 Summer EU LCS

Alphari joined Origen (now Astralis) back in late 2018, and has had some really good results with the squad. With this team, they placed 2nd in the 2019 Spring LEC, 1st in Rift Rivals of 2019, and 4th in the 2020 Spring LEC. Quite solid results if you consider the talents of both G2 and Fnatic rosters.

Why Alphari?

With current Liquid Top Laner Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong reaching the end of his contract, the team was instructed to find a new Top laner which fits their playstyle. Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen opinion on Team Liquid’s free agent options have been quite fundamental as he was the one that opted for Alphari. He is now looking to find a strong jungler to replace Broxah as his contract is coming to an end.

It will be very interesting to see these North American League of Legends changes come to this Liquid roster. After almost qualifying for groups at Worlds 2020, they have made it clear that the level of the team is there, and that all they need are just a few more tweaks to the lineup.

Worlds 2020 Day 14 Recap – Suning Dethrone Top Esports

Following DAMWON’S dominant performance yesterday, the community happily predicted the outcome of the next Semifinal. Indeed, many thought that Top Esports would make it through, thanks to their seasonal dominance over the LPL. However, Worlds 2020 is full of surprises.

Accordingly, Suning managed the unthinkable – thwarting the regional leaders in an impressive fashion. Here at esportsguide, we predicted like many others that Top Esports would take it though we shared the fact that following their close shave with Fnatic, their vulnerabilities were made clear.

Evidently, that’s exactly what Suning aimed to do.

Suning have had somewhat of a bumpy road here at Worlds 2020. Facing Top Esports was their toughest challenge yet. Things start great for the underdog as they go ahead and claim the first map. Doubts begin to spread within the community.

Top Esports responded similarly to G2 Esports yesterday. They quickly equalized in the next map to bring it to 1-1. Before Top Esports could develop any form of momentum, Suning applied the pressure. In doing so they managed to win 2 more maps and take the series.

Suning have made it to the Grand Finals against DAMWON Gaming. It’s likely one of the greatest upsets at Worlds 2020. In the next few days, we’ll be covering the upcoming final in immense details.

Worlds 2020 Day 13 Recap – DAMWON Break G2 Esports

Indeed, we’ve finally entered the end-game for Worlds 2020. Accordingly, a day ago, four teams stood at equal footing from the tantalizing notion of becoming world champions. However, as of today, the race only stands between three as DAMWON Gaming faced G2 Esports.

With so much support on the line, it’s easily one of the best matches from the event so far. Bearing this in mind, we’ll be offering a quick recap below as we’ve done for each day of the event here at esportsguide.

From the offset, our predictions put DAMWON Gaming above G2 Esports. However, we hardly ruled out the Europeans thanks to their star in Capswho’s put on a show all event long.

With that being said, DAMWON Gaming came out red hot in the first map. So much so, that the terms of ‘crushed’ and ‘destroyed’ flooded the community. Regardless, G2 Esports managed to stay level-headed and rally a response in map 2.

Heading into Map 3, it all looked square. With DAMWON Gaming looking flawless at Worlds 2020, could G2 Esports now throw them on the back foot? The answer to this is a forlorn ‘no’. In fact, DAMWON Gaming mustered a clinical performance to push them into two maps – concluding the series with a 3-1 scoreline.

One phenomenal statistic to note is that following this victory, DAMWON Gaming are on a 25 winstreak on the blue side. They haven’t lost on that side of the map since the Mid-Season Cup!

While our best wishes go out to the players on G2 Esports, our thoughts rush to the next match-up. Who will match up against DAMWON Gaming?

Dardoch renewing contract for 2021 with Dignitas

North American League of Legends had quite the shake-up last season, and we will probably get a similar situation this year. However, one player will not be switching rosters any time soon, as Dardoch will be renewing his contract for 2021 with Dignitas. Here is their announcement:

Dardoch renewing contract for 2021 with Dignitas – Who is Dardoch?

22-year old Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett is a professional League of Legends player that specializes in the Jungle role. Dardoch was always considered as an extremely talented player, however his reputation was always sabotaged by his toxic behaviour in a team-based environment. This led to him hopping on several lineups in the NA scene, but it seems that he has looked back and corrected his behaviour as he has clearly satisfied the management of Dignitas.

Why is this big news?

If you’re a North American LoL fan, you know that Dardoch has been on multiple rosters. Some of them being: Team Liquid, Immortals, CLG, Echo Fox, OpTic, and most recently TSM. He has been playing with every top team in NA, but he is finally home with Dignitas.

It’ll be very interesting to see the North American League of Legends scene post-Worlds 2020. Where we will definitely see another chaotic player transfer period, similar to last year.

Predictions for the Semifinals

  • G2 Esports vs DAMWON Gaming

This is definitely a superb match-up. Both of these teams have taken alternate paths to get this far. To begin with, DAMWON Gaming has made it to this stage relatively untouched, blemished by one unaffecting loss. Sweeping threats such as DRX and JD Gaming, they are a favourite to win the event.

Meanwhile, G2 Esports has had to fight long and hard. Taking second in the Group following a tiebreaker against Suning, they then stunned the community with a 3-0 over Gen.G. Following that series, they’re looking very dangerous indeed. While DAMWON has a roster of stars, G2 Esports have their own MVP in “Caps“.

In my opinion, it’ll be a lengthy series which boils down to the final map, possibly going the way of DAMWON Gaming.

  • Top Esports vs Suning

Now this is a tasty one. Both representing the LPL, it’s an uphill battle for Suning. That’s because Top Esports has dominated the region all year as the uncontested leader.

However, since Fnatic gave Top Esports such a hard time, dragging them to a map 5, Suning’s chances are looking stronger. After taking out the other regional team of JD Gaming, this could be Suning’s chance to usurp the throne at the last opportunity.

Worlds 2020 Day 12 Recap – G2 Esports Sweep Gen.G

After four days of incredible matches, the Quarterfinals of Worlds 2020 are complete. Indeed, the final game took place between G2 Esports and Gen.G yesterday, finalizing the four semi-finalists. Both G2 Esports and Gen.G have looked strong for the entire event and the match seemed uncertain. With G2 Esports representing the last contender from the LEC, many vouched for the Europeans while Gen.G represented the LCK. Read on for a recap of Day 12!

Heading into the match, no clear favourite stood out. Based on performance from the Group Stage, Gen.G were statistically favoured. The first map was heavily contested, though overall, G2 Esports managed to strike first. Accordingly, the organization has made it to the semi-finals at Worlds 2020 twice before and wanted to do it again.

A while back, we featured an article describing some of our top players to watch – one of them was Rasmus “Caps” Winther for G2 Esports. Without a doubt, we can say that our predictions was correct. Thanks to his incredible performance, G2 Esports quickly racked up the remaining two maps and sent Gen.G packing with a 3-0 scoreline. Although Gen.G fought back with all their might and made some great plays, G2 Esports always seemed to be a few steps ahead.

Worlds 2020 Day 11 Recap – TOP Esports Make History

So far, the Quarterfinals at Worlds 2020 have been fantastic, to say the least. The most recent matchup between Top Esports and Fnatic, however, takes the cake as potentially one of the greatest matches in the history of the staple esports event. Why? Accordingly, the match saw Top Esports accomplish a feat unheard of in competitive League of Legends, while also snapping Fnatic’s heart in two. Read on for a concise recap of Day 11!

Heading into the match, here at esportsguide we predicted that Top Esports had the upper hand and that Fnatic would have to put in the work to dent the giant. What nobody expected was Fnatic going up 2-0 in no time. With Top Esports appearing flustered and weak, it seemed that the underdog was on match point.

Worlds 2020 is where careers are made and players dig deep to become bigger than themselves. That’s what was running through the mind of Top Esports who hunkered down, took it one map at a time and evened the scoreboard. Indeed, with a gaping mouth, the community watched. Top Esports, the kings of the LPL, have pulled off the first BO5 reverse sweep in the history of Worlds.

Finally, it’s a guarantee that one LPL team will make it to the grand final.

Worlds 2020 Day 10 Recap – Suning Eliminate JD Gaming

For the second Quarterfinal at Worlds 2020, another regional conflict was set to entice the community. Indeed, both hailing from the LPL, the Chinese teams of Suning and JD Gaming have been fighting for second place under Top Esports all season long. With all that said, Suning proved themselves to be better.

Everyone knew the game would be closer, definitely compared to yesterday’s game where DAMWON stomped DRX. In fact, JD Gaming took the lead out of the gate, accumulating in a first map victory. Cool, calm and collected, Suning learned from their mistakes and proceeded to win the next map. All tied up, a game 5 seemed likely.

Credits: LoL Esports Twitter

However, Suning had no intention of letting the game go that far. Worlds 2020 has certainly not gone to plan. Accordingly, Suning powered through the next two maps to become the second semi-finalists at Worlds 2020 with DAMWON Gaming.

Definitely a heart-breaking loss for JD Gaming who looked like a great prospect heading into the event. They know join DRX as one of the more prominent teams eliminated at Worlds 2020.

Worlds 2020 Day 9 Recap

So far, two semifinalists have been confirmed at the event so far. Two games remain before the Quarterfinals are over.
