Heretics bringing on Monsteerr for VALORANT

Spanish organisation Team Heretics have announced that they are bringing on Monsteerr from LDNUTD for VALORANT. Here is their announcement:

Heretics bringing on Monsteerr for VALORANT – Who is he?

Ondřej “MONSTEERR” Petrů is a professional VALORANT player from the Czech Republic. He started his career with Enterprise Esports back in September of 2020, and left after 5 months to join LDNUTD. Before joining Team Heretics, he had placed highly in a couple of events, mainly C-Tier tournaments, but has shown what he’s able to do in the VALORANT space. Here are some of his best achievements so far:

  • 1st in RixGG VALORANT Open April – 25th April 2021 – $1,387
  • 2nd at VALORANT UK One Day Open – 27th March 2021 – $690
  • 1st in GLL Community Cup – EMEA #3 – 19th August 2020 – $150

Why add him to the roster?

Ever since Team Heretics were eliminated early from the Stage 2 Challengers 1 Qualifiers the roster hasn’t been doing so well. They blew everyone’s mind when they upset Team Liquid, G2 as well as SUMN FC in the First Strike event. They were marked as Europe’s best, but unfortunately didn’t manage to keep their throne. Now hopefully with their revamped roster the team can slowly climb back and redeem its reputation.

VCT Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík Viewership – exceeding expectations

The VCT Stage 2 Masters Rekyjavík are now concluded, and here we saw multiple storylines. Mainly it was NA being very dominant, while also having a couple of other contenders from a variety of regions. However what’s interesting is that the event was widely viewed by many. Thanks to Esports Charts we can get more insight on how the Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík Viewership was like. Read on to know more:

VCT Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík Viewership – Peaking at 1M+ viewers

On the 30th of May, when the finals took place, the event reached a peak viewership of 1,085,527 viewers. This was quite a solid amount, especially when you consider that this is the first ever international and offline broadcasted event. Adding onto that, throughout the entire week of competition, the streams had a total of 25,186,869 hours watched, with an average viewership of 488,276 over 52 broadcasting hours.

How did it do in the viewership leaderboards?

Surprisingly, the VCT Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík event almost reached the top 5 in May viewership. Unfortunately it missed out by around 32,000 viewers, meaning that it was placed 6th in the viewership leaderboard.

Concluding Thoughts

This Masters event is certainly a memorable one, and with it being such a success, many are wondering if the Stage 3 Masters can reach new heights. VALORANT is still a very young esport, and for it to be achieving such positive feedback early on, is a very good sign.

We are excited to see what else Riot has in store for us throughout the 2021 VCT and beyond!

Riot Games Announce VALORANT Mobile

Riot Games have opted to announce that VALORANT is going to have its very own mobile version! Here’s everything you need to know:

VALORANT Mobile – What do we know?

At the time of writing, we’ve got no idea what’s to come with regards to VALORANT mobile. However, Riot is intending on expanding and growing the VALORANT space, and making a mobile version for the game, seems like their intended approach.

This is what VALORANT Executive Producer, Anna Donlon said about the news:

“One of our top goals this first year was to earn the trust and respect of the global FPS community, and to prove to them that VALORANT will always uphold the fundamentals of a truly worthwhile competitive tac-shooter,” Donlon said. “To see our growing player community recognize and appreciate what we’re trying to do with VALORANT is beyond what we could’ve expected and we’re thrilled to soon offer the same competitive VALORANT experience to even more global players.”

Didn’t we know of a mobile version already?

VALORANT coming to mobile has been circling around through rumours for the past couple of months, but no one was actually convinced that Riot would pull it off. It’s certainly going to be a new experience for both Riot, as well as their players, the VALORANT community. Here’s a mock up image of what VALORANT would look like on mobile:

What’s next?

Riot Games have been experimenting non-stop with their mobile games. Most recently they revealed Wild Rift, a mobile version of the very famous League of Legends. They’ve also released the mobile version of TFT (Teamfight Tactics) and Legends of Runeterra. They’re certainly outdoing themselves this year, and we can’t wait to see what else they have in store!

Zeek joining Acend VALORANT

It has been made public that former G2 Esports player Zeek is joining Acend for VALORANT. Here is their announcement:

Zeek joining Acend VALORANT – Who is he?

19-year-old Aleksander “zeek” Zygmunt is a VALORANT player from Poland. He started his VALORANT career with team ‘THOSE GUYS’ and then moved on to play for the European Nolpenki squad. After such great performances, he was then offered a position on the G2 Esports lineup after they parted ways with Davidp. Initially the plans were to transform him into a solid in-game leader, but it seems like that plan did not work out. Now he’s looking to continue his VALORANT career with his new teammates over at Acend Club.

Here are some of Zeek’s best achievements on VALORANT so far:

  • 1st at Red Bull Home Ground – 31st January 2021 – $13,705
  • 5th-8th at First Strike Europe – 4th December 2020 – $5,000
  • 1st in Polish Invitational 5v5 – 31st August 2020 – $2,715

What’s next?

Acend were the first European champions during the Stage 1 Masters event. Unfortunately their success was not replicated in the second stage of the VCT. Now hopefully with this change the team can continue to improve and hopefully reach the Stage 3 Masters in Berlin.

This is how Acend’s full VALORANT lineup looks like:

  • Santeri “BONECOLD” Sassi
  • Mehmet “cNed” Yağız İpek
  • Vladyslav “Kiles” Shvets
  • Patryk “starxo” Kopczyński
  • Aleksander “zeek” Zygmunt

G2 Esports bringing on Nukkye, AvovA and Koldamenta for VALORANT

G2 Esports have announced that they are bringing on Nukkye, AvovA, and Koldamenta for their VALORANT division. Here is their announcement:

G2 Esports bringing on Nukkye, AvovA and Koldamenta for VALORANT – Who are they picking up?

G2 have opted to keep their main Captain Mixwell, as well as one of their initial members, Pyth. This means that they’ve had 3 empty slots to fill, and they’ve decided to bring on the three names written above. Nukkye and AvovA will be joining the team from Team Heretics, whereas Koldamenta has come from Acend. These players are very talented and it’s certainly going to be interesting to see how they will adapt to each other.

This is what Maikturtle, manager for the Valorant team, said about the changes:

“I’m very excited to have nukkye, avova, and koldamenta on the team. They bring a lot of experience, spirit and firepower, and I know that they’ll excel in this new project.”

Source

What will happen to the remaining members?

From what we know so far, Zeek has been swapped with Koldamenta, and will be joining Acend. As for Ardiis and Patitek, not much is known. However in his departure tweet, Ardiis comments “was fun, time to own it with @teamh…” which brings to question, is he actually joining Team Heretics?

Patitek’s announcement on the other hand is set to be revealed tomorrow!

These roster changes were definitely expected after G2’s disappointing run in recent events. Hopefully this not only improves the team on a European level, but on an International level as well!

Sentinels reportedly acquired TenZ from Cloud9

The Stage 2 Masters champions Sentinels have reportedly acquired TenZ from Cloud9. Here is their announcement:

Sentinels reportedly acquired TenZ from Cloud9 – What happened?

According to a report by Kevin Hitt of the Esports Observer, Sentinels have bought out Tyson “TenZ” Ngo with a 7-figure deal ($1.25M). TenZ was loaned out to Sentinels back in March when they needed a desperate replacement for the VCT Stage 1 Masters event. This was because Sinatraa stepped down from the lineup due to sexual allegations between him and his ex-girlfriend. This was a huge opportunity for both Sentinels and TenZ, and to everyone’s surprise it worked out. With the limited practice they had together, Sentinels came out as Champions during the Stage 1 Masters. With this victory, Sentinels had no choice but to extend the loan.

Sentinels & TenZ win VCT Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík

It was obviously a big question after TenZ and his teammates won the biggest VALORANT event to date. It would have been a real shame if all their hard work and success went to nothing due to contractual limitations.

What’s next for Sentinels?

The next step for the Sentinels roster is as Shahzam said. Work hard in the upcoming months and seal the deal by winning the VALORANT Champions event at the end of the year. It’s certainly not going to be an easy way forward, but with what the team has achieved so far, it’s definitely possible.

Sentinels win Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík

Yesterday, the Sentinels team managed to win the Stage 2 Masters event in Reykjavík. They won every single series without dropping a map on the international stage. This is how they did it:

Final Standings + Winnings:

  • 1st – $200,000 – Sentinels
  • 2nd – $100,000 – Fnatic
  • 3rd – $80,000 – NUTURN Gaming
  • 4th – $60,000 – Team Liquid
  • 5th-6th – $40,000 – Version1
  • 5th-6th – $40,000 – Team Vikings
  • 7th-8th – $25,000 – X10 Esports
  • 7th-8th – $25,000 – KRÜ Esports
  • 9th-10th – $15,000 – Crazy Raccoon
  • 9th-10th – $15,000 – Sharks Esports

Sentinels win Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík – How did they do it?

Due to winning the NA Challengers Finals, Sentinels were already seeded into the first round of the upper bracket. Here they took on the European Fnatic roster, and got a clean 2-0 to advance to the second round. In the second round they played against the Brazilian Team Vikings, which gave them almost no challenge, as Sentinels got a back to back 2-0 win. This victory sealed them a spot in the upper bracket finals, and here they played against the Korean NUTURN Gaming. Unfortunately the Koreans did not bring their A-game during this series, as the North American squad won both maps (Bind 13-5, Haven 13-4).

Grand Finals

Meanwhile, Fnatic were slowly climbing through the lower bracket, beating teams like X10 Esports, Version1, and their European brothers of Team Liquid. Then in the Lower Bracket Finals, they got the win against NUTURN to finalize their spot in the Grand Finals against Sentinels. This was the most anticipated series of the entire event, and it surely delivered. Every single match was a constant battle from both sides, and in each map we had both teams reaching double digits. Unfortunately for Fnatic, they weren’t able to seal the deal on any of the three maps, and Sentinels took the win. This is how it ended:

VCT Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík – Quick recap of what happened

The event kicked off with solid results coming out of Europe and North America. Fnatic beat KRÜ Esports,  and Version1 won against Crazy Racoon to advance into the bracket. We then saw an upset from the North American region, winning against both European teams. On the sidelines, we also saw Korea take down Brazil in the Nuturn and Sharks Esports matchup. And we also saw Team Vikings send X10 Esports to the lower bracket.

By the next stage, Crazy Racoon, Sharks Esports, X10 Esports and KRÜ were eliminated from the event. Version1 lost against Nuturn and were sent to the lower bracket against Fnatic. On the top side of the bracket Sentinels won 2-0 versus Team Vikings to get to the upper bracket final against Nuturn.

Fnatic won against V1, and Team Liquid also beat Vikings to reach the 4th round of the lower bracket. This means that Europe will have one team going out for sure, as Fnatic is going up against Team Liquid. Today we saw another dominant performance from the North American Sentinels, as they swiftly took down Nuturn Gaming 2-0 in the Upper Bracket Finals.

Gen.G acquiring Female VALORANT roster

North American org Gen.G have announced that they are acquiring a Female VALORANT roster to compete in North American competitions. Here is their announcement:

Gen.G acquiring Female VALORANT roster – Who did they sign?

Some of the current members had played in the VALORANT Game Changers event back in March. These players are: Carlee “carlee” Gress, Hannah “Hannah” Reyes and Tiraye. According to the article on upcomer, Carlee and Hannah had previously competed in Fortnite, also representing Gen.G. Role wise, Tiraye will take the role of the in-game leader, and she will be mainly using the controller agents.

Who else?

Another addition to the squad is Leelee. She’s been a familiar face with the female VALORANT space for quite some time, representing team SinCere, as well as Infinity Val. She will be taking the role as a Duelist on the Gen.G lineup. And for their final member, Gen.G have brought on Stephanieser, rumoured to be the team’s main Sova. According to credible source TheSpike.GG, this is her first ever team in VALORANT.

What’s next?

We’ve already seen a couple of teams and orgs involving themselves with the Female side of VALORANT. Namely: Cloud9, Dignitas, CLG and TSM. There’s a lot of opportunities for women around the world to compete in VALORANT. And it’s only natural that we start seeing more orgs signing on female teams.
