Excel to acquire Denyk and Nukeduck for 2021 LEC Summer Split

According to rumours circling round the League of Legends esports scene, Excel are to acquire Denyk and Nukeduck for the 2021 LEC Summer Split. Here is everything you need to know.

Excel to acquire Denyk and Nukeduck for 2021 LEC Summer Split – Who are they?

Nukeduck

24-year-old Erlend “Nukeduck” Våtevik is quite a familiar face in the European LoL scene. He started his career very young in the esport with 3DMAX, and then played for H2k, NiP, Roccat as well as Vitality.  On the 8th of February, Nukeduck announced that he was stepping away from the competitive atmosphere due to personal problems. Just recently he announced that he is actively searching for a role within an LEC team, and Excel might just be his next home.

Denyk

26-year-old Petr “Denyk” Haramach is a Czech League of Legends professional player. He started his career in 2013 with Extatus, and then went on to play for multiple teams within League of Legends. Recently he’s represented Misfits Gaming, but was benched recently. Now with Excel, he’ll be back on a starting lineup, hoping to bring better results in Summer.

Why bring them on?

Excel hasn’t had the best results in the LEC Spring Split of 2021. The team only managed to place 8th overall, just barely above Astralis and Team Vitality. Hopefully with these new additions the team can bounce back and get better results in Summer.

Karmine Corp player Adam reportedly joining Fnatic for Summer

Wooloo, European Reporter has revealed that Karmine Corp player Adam is reportedly joining Fnatic for the LEC 2021 Summer Split. Here is the tweet:

Adam reportedly joining Fnatic for Summer – Who is he?

19-year-old Adam “Adam” Maanane is a professional League of Legends player from France. He started his career in 2019 with Olympe Esports, and then moved on to play for Initial Esports, and Unfazed Esports. However he’s truly shown what he’s made of with this Karmine Corp roster.

Just recently, he and his team won the European Masters event beating teams like BT Excel, UCAM Esports Club, and Suppup Esports. This was the team’s first biggest achievement and is certainly the main reason for his promotion to the Fnatic lineup.

Here are Adam’s best achievements in his short career:

  • 1st in European Masters Spring 2021 – 2nd May 2021 – $48,080
  • First in LFL Spring 2021 – 25th March 2021 – $23,650
  • 1st at Open Tour France 2020 – 16th February 2020 – $1,626

What’s next?

This disappointing 2021 Spring Split for Fnatic has certainly shown their weaknesses. Current top laner Bwipo has already stated that if he does not up his game by the end of this split, he will probably not continue with this Fnatic team.

Getting in someone young with a lot of potential could be the perfect move for the black and oranges. Question is, will he be the key factor for the team’s success?

Karmine Corp win European Masters Spring – How did they do it?

Group Stage

Karmine Corp kicked off the event with a great performance in the group stage. The team placed 1st in Group D, beating BT Excel, FC Schalke 04 Evolution and Cream Real Betis.

Knockout Stage

Then in the Knockout stage, the team first played against Suppup Esports. First game went to Suppup, but the 2 others that followed were swift victories for Karmine Corp. This got them into the Semifinals versus the almighty UCAM Esports Club. KC took the first game, to which UCAM replied with one of their own, after switching their team comp. But unfortunately this was not enough as Karmine still took the win to reach the Grand Finals.

Grand Finals

Here Karmine Corp had to take down BT Excel in a best of 5 series. Surprisingly, BT Excel was the first to strike, with their very tanky composition of Ornn, Udyr and Kench. However their playstyle was immediately countered for the following 3 matches, as Karmine Corp grabbed three straight wins in the Finals. Here are the final moments of the last game:

TSM Announcing Amateur Scouting Roster for League of Legends

TSM are announcing that they are acquiring an amateur scouting roster for League of Legends. Here is their announcement:

TSM Announcing Amateur Scouting Roster – What is it?

This amateur lineup that TSM has signed consists of 5 players which are not familiar to many. They have brought on Yujie “Eclipse” Wu as top laner, Ferdous “Infectrix” Hassan as Jugnler, William “Doxa” Lee as Mid, Alexander “Gorica” Gorica as ADC, and Braydon “Donbray” Phan as the team’s support. The only recognizable player form this team is TSM’s amateur ADC, as Gorica had previously represented the Golden Guardians Academy team in 2020.

This is what TSM said about this move:

“Over the past few months, players from various competitive tiers have been invited to in-houses run by our academy staff. Our goal was to provide a platform for a small group of amateur and solo queue players to get a slice of the competitive experience by coordinating scrims and providing feedback over a period of time. We discovered that some players, even under this minimal structure, improved dramatically in their game sense and approach to practice. “

What’s next?

With this roster acquisition, TSM are following in Cloud9’s footsteps, as they too have signed an ameteur team. The team’s first appearance will be in the 2021 Summer Split in the LCS. This is certainly a very interesting step from these orgs and we can’t wait to see what else they have in stock for 2021!

Bwipo & Selfmade Reportedly Turning Down Fnatic Contract Extensions

According to Esportsmaniacos, 2 of Fnatic’s core members, Bwipo & Selfmade, are turning down contract extensions with Fnatic. Here is everything you need to know.

Bwipo & Selfmade Turning Down Fnatic Contract Extensions – Why?

If you’ve been paying attention to recent European League of Legends, you already know that Fnatic has been struggling for quite a while. In fact, their recent drop in performance led them into getting eliminated early from the LEC Spring Split Finals, finishing in just 5th place. This was the first time in a long while that Fnatic had had a very disappointing performance in the LEC.

Both of these players will have their contracts expired by the end of the 2021 season, till the 15th of November. If Fnatic don’t improve their results and performance by the Summer Split, Bwipo and Selfmade won’t have much to think about with regards to their stay.

What’s next?

It seems like the recent changes made to the team, with Nemesis and Rekkles departing, the team hasn’t felt the same. If the report is true, meaning that both Bwipo & Selfmade have different plans for their future, it could mark new beginnings for Fnatic. The team has been in the scene since the esports’ birth, and it would certainly be a shame to see it drop so low in the European and worldwide rankings.

All in all we’ll just have to wait and see how they perform in this upcoming split. Fnatic have not yet hinted at any roster changes, but we can surely expect a change in the very near future.

Gambit Esports close League of Legends division

Gambit Esports have announced that they opted to close out their League of Legends division. Here is their announcement:

Gambit Esports close League of Legends division – Why?

In the announcement they do not state the exact reason for their departure from the esport and we must look onto their recent results in the LCL. The team has constantly been placing 3rd/4th in the past 3 years of competition and only managed to get 2 second places. The lack of championships and investment in other esports could be the reason why they have made this decision.

With their farewell message, the Gambit staff say one final thank you to all of the players that represented their team within League of Legends.

Here are the team’s best achievements in the esport:

  • 5th-8th in Season 3 World Championship – 23rd September 2013 – $75,000
  • 1st in LCL Spring 2018 – 1st April 2018 – $37,021
  • 7th-8th at Mid-Season Invitational 2018 – 9th May 2018 – $34,263

Community Reaction

The Gambit Esports organisation has had a long history (8 years) with League of Legends. Originally, they started off with the Moscow 5 roster, consisting of Darien, Alex_Ich, Genja, Edward and DiamondProx. Back then, the team had excellent results, and was known to be the best CIS team in the world.

Obviously with seeing such a legendary org step away from the scene, the community felt a huge sadness. As fans of Gambit, we can only hope that one day they grow big enough to re-enter the scene.

With this change, Gambit Esports are parting ways with:

Players:

  • Mark “DREAMPYLLA” Leksin
  • Stanimir “Four” Penchev
  • Alexey “Phlaty” Lemeshchuk
  • Artyom “Shiganari” Pervushin
  • Alexander “Lekcycc” Lexikov

How to Watch MSI 2021 LoL Invitational: teams, format, schedule, streams, predictions

Indeed, competitive League of Legends has entertained us these past few months thanks to the Spring events. Accordingly, the best of the best have qualified for an incredible event – the MSI 2021 LoL Invitational is almost here! Kicking off on 6th May, read on to learn everything you need to know to watch!

Event Background

As I’ll reiterate, the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is a celebration of international League of Legends. Winners from regional spring splits are invited – this time to Iceland – to prove themselves on an international stage. With this incredible amount of glory and pride on the line, the prize pool of $250,000 will also be crowd funded through in-game purchases.

However, there’s an additional twist to this event. Riot Games is making things spicy as Worlds 2021 pools will be changed – the winning region will earn an extra seed and meanwhile, the overall top ranking region will earn another seed! If these two coincide, the second ranked region will earn this extra seed!

Accordingly, here are the 11 teams that will be coming to fight for all this:

  • LCS Spring – Cloud9
  • LCK Spring – DAMWON Gaming
  • LJL Spring – DetonatioN FocusMe
  • LLA Opening – Infinity Esports
  • TCL Winter – Istanbul Wild Cats
  • LEC Spring – MAD Lions
  • CBLOL Split 1 – paiN Gaming
  • LCO Split 1 – Pentanet.GG
  • PCS Spring – PSG Talon
  • LPL Spring – Royal Never Give Up
  • LCL Spring – Unicorns of Love

11? Unfortunately, the winning team from Vietnam, GAM Esports, couldn’t make it due to flight restrictions.

Format

Despite the missing team, the format will not be changing much. Speaking of which, it’s a very exciting three stage movement.

  • Group Stage – 3 groups of 4 (1 group of 3) – top two progress to the next stage after a double round-robin. Furthermore, the bottom two are eliminated from the competition after BO1 matches.
  • Rumble Stage – the top 6 play through a Double Round Robin. Once again, with BO1 games, the top 4 move on to Knockout Stage while the bottom two are eliminated.
  • Knockout Stage – the final four convene for an epic single-elimination bracket with BO5 matches.

Everything will kick off on 6th May, running up to the 23rd May.

Kicking things off, here’s how the groups are looking for the event:

  • Group A: Royal Never Give Up, Unicorns of Love, Pentanet.GG
  • Group B: MAD Lions, PSG Talon, Istanbul Wildcats, paiN Gaming
  • Group C: DAMWON Gaming, Cloud9, Infinity Esports, DetonatioN FocusMe

Schedule for the MSI 2021 LoL Invitational 2021

As of right now, the schedule is unavailable at the current moment – of course, we’ll update this article as soon as this is made public.

Predictions

Credits: LoL Esports Twitter

Last year, the MSI 2020 Invitational couldn’t happen and was suddenly cancelled – that isn’t happening this year. That’s why we’re so excited for this event, the last time since Worlds since we’ve been able to enjoy some epic international competition.

So who’s more likely to win?

Bearing this in mind, I’ll be power-ranking the regions I believe have the best chance of winning, as we’ll show below:

Credits: LoL Esports Twitter
  1. LCK – DAMWON Gaming
  2. LPL – Royal Never Give Up
  3. LEC – MAD Lions
  4. LCS – Cloud9
  5. PCS – PSG Talon
  6. LCL – Unicorns of Love
  7. TCL Winter – Istanbul Wild Cats
  8. LLA Opening – Infinity Esports
  9. CBLOL Split 1 – paiN Gaming
  10. LJL Spring – DetonatioN FocusMe
  11. LCO Split 1 – Pentanet.GG

I believe that’s quite an agreeable ranking. At the top, it’s without question that DAMWON Gaming is the leading favourite heading into this event, with RNGU and MAD Lions taking up the next spots.

However, international competition is always fascinating as anything can happen in such match-ups.

Afreeca Freecs Leo – A Potential Solution?

Alright so – Afreeca Freecs didn’t look so hot at the LCK Spring 2021 event. Indeed, the team hasn’t realistically found much success in the past year and is hoping to change that in a big way. Accordingly, the recent roster change brings on a new name of Afreeca Freecs ‘Leo’. Can this new player solve their problems?

Afreeca Freecs Leo – Change is Good, But is it Good Enough?

Credits: Afreeca Freecs LoL Twitter

Many are criticizing this move for the simple reason that as a player, Han “Leo” Gyeo-re doesn’t really have any achievements to show for. Hailing from the equally unimpressive roster of SANDBOX Gaming, it’s clear that the aim of this move is to bring about a change. Perhaps a reshuffle is what this team needs to possibly find success.

Bearing this in mind, the following is the active roster for Afreeca Freecs:

  • Kim “Kim” Gi-in – Top
  • Lee “Dread” Jin-hyeok – Jungle
  • Song “Fly” Yong-jun – Mid
  • Bae “Bang” Jun-sik – Bot
  • Han “Leo” Gyeo-re – Bot
  • Son “Lehends” Si-woo – Support
  • Kim “MapSSi” Do-yeong – Support

Regardless of the doubt, this team can only realistically move forward. It’s a sure thing that chemistry and team work is essential in League of Legends – all the talent in the world can’t guarantee a synergy within a team.

Let’s see how they perform once the LCK continues!

100T bringing on Abbedagge as New Mid Laner for Summer Split 2021

100T (100 Thieves) have announced that they are bringing on Abbedagge as their new mid laner for the LCS Summer Split in 2021. Here is their announcement:

Who is Abbedagge?

21-year-old Felix “Abbedagge” Braun is a German League of Legends professional player. He started his career in 2016 with team Mysterious Monkeys, and then went on to play for multiple teams. Most notably: Galatasaray Esports, Royal Bandits, Team Vitality Academy, and most recently, FC Schalke 04 Esports. In his 5 years of competition, he has accumulated an approximate total of $23,544 in esports earnings. Now he’s looking to increase his experience as a mid-laner and add on to that number.

Here are some of his best achievements in his LoL career:

  • 3rd at LEC Summer 2019 – 7th September 2019 – $33,081
  • 4th in LEC Spring 2021 – 4th April 2021 – $23,802
  • 5th at LEC Summer 2020 – 28th August 2020 – $14,802

100T bringing on Abbedagge as New Mid Laner for Summer Split 2021 – Why?

It’s no secret that the 100 Thieves roster flopped at the end of the Spring Split. By Week 3, the team was still sitting in 2nd place, just under Cloud9. By the 6th week, the team fell down to 4th place with an 11-7 score, and stayed 4th after the Mid-Season Showdown. This current team has potential to be North America’s best, and that’s why they’re focusing on making minimal changes, instead of major updates.

The Summer Season still has a few more weeks till it kicks off, giving enough time for this roster to adapt and work together towards improvement!
