The 100T and C9 rosters are currently sitting at #1 in the LCS group stage leaderboard. Here’s a short run down of how they did it:

100 Thieves match rundown
The Thieves kicked off week 1 with an astonishing win versus the newly revamped Evil Geniuses squad. Next up was Counter Logic Gaming (CLG), and they too were taken down by the mighty Thieves. For their last match of the first week, they matched up versus Dignitas. This game was also won by 100T in dominant fashion.
The squad takes down Dignitas in a convincing 30-min game to conclude Week 1 of the #LCS Spring Split UNDEFEATED. Excellent performance today, boys! 🔥 #100Tpic.twitter.com/4DvavnYZAx
Cloud9 kick-started the group stage with a victory over the Golden Guardians. TSM were the upcoming matchup, and oh my was it a blood bath. Cloud9 were completely slaughtering this new TSM squad, and Cloud9 secured their 2-0 lead in the group stage. Lastly for game 3, they were matched up versus Immortals. Here Cloud9 held another dominant performance to solidify a tie in the 1st place of the leaderboards.
These 2 teams have gone through multiple changes in their respective rosters, but so have other teams. 100 Thieves and Cloud9 however, seem to have found their rhythm and chemistry almost instantly. They are definitely the teams to watch in the 2021 LCS Spring Split.

Liiv SANDBOX, formerly known as SANDBOX Gaming, have just announced that they are signing Prince in the ADC position. Here is their announcement:
[Welcome, Prince]
Hello. This is Liiv SANDBOX.
We are pleased to announce that ‘Prince’ Lee Chae Hwan has joined the team. Prince will be able to play starting from the second round of LCK Spring. We hope you support us.
20-year-old Lee “Prince” Chae-hwan is a competitive League of Legends player which started his career in 2017. His first team was ES Sharks, and then moved on to play for DAMWON Gaming, and eventually FPX. Just a few days ago, he was let go to return to the Korean scene, and now he is signed with Liiv SANDBOX.
We’re here to announce that Prince (Lee Chae-hwan) will now return to LCK as a free agent.
We are grateful for all the efforts you made here. Thank you, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
For the most part, the best moments of his career were with DAMWON Gaming and Awesome Spear. He has accumulated an approximate total of $11,463 in esports earnings, and is looking to increase that number with his new team.
Prince is certainly going to be a great asset for this talented korean roster. Hopefully we start seeing a lot of him in this year’s Spring and Summer splits, and maybe even Worlds.
Some sullen news has just impacted the Overwatchcommunity. Indeed, since last year, the community has been awaiting further updates. Accordingly, news was spilled at BlizzConline a few days ago. Sadly, Overwatch 2is not on the horizon for 2021!
Overwatch 2 – A Saddened Community
This is definitely sad news for the community. After months of waiting together with a trailer, the hype is crashing. Such an announcement is based on an observation made by Geoff Keighley, a gaming journalist, on twitter:
During earnings call, Activision Blizzard said it does not expect Overwatch 2 or Diablo 4 to launch in 2021. pic.twitter.com/C2BmDP53JA
Previously, the title was planned for a Summer release in 2021.
Serious Implications for Esports
Why is this such a big deal you ask?
Well, the current title of Overwatchhasn’t received a major update since last April – almost a year! Supposedly, the community was told that attention was being given to developing the sequel. Furthermore, since competitive Overwatch is currently struggling, many looked to the sequel with hope.
Now with the delay, the community is shaking their heads. Indeed, the question goes ‘now what?’
Unfortunately, Blizzard cannot be blamed for the difficulties the world is facing right now. Remotely developing a game is a lot harder than it sounds.
However, they’ll need to work to rekindle Overwatch with new content.
Our fourth and final competitive LeagueofLegends season to cover is the LCS 2021 Spring Season. By no means inferior to the other leagues, this league will actually be the last one kick off. Running from the 5th February to the 14th March, we’ve gathered all the details you need for a complete and educated viewership experience!
Like many of the other leagues, this is the ninth year for competitive League of Legends in the region. Notably, this time around, performances within the LCS 2021 Spring event will carry on to Summer to, in terms of weight. With so much on the line across this first leg of regular season, here are the 10 teams fighting for dominance:
100 Thieves
Cloud9
Counter Logic Gaming
Dignitas
Evil Geniuses
FlyQuest
Golden Guardians
Immortals
Team Liquid
TSM
No changes in terms of names here, the same 10 teams are back for this upcoming season. That’s great – old rivalries will continue to fluorish as teams establish long term relationships.
The schedule of the LCS Spring Season is identical to that of the LEC. Accordingly, the 10 aforementioned teams will be thrown into a double round robin, where teams will play one another for a total of two times. This, as I’ll reiterate, opens the door for clever preparation for rematches and allows for teams to adapt to one another and truly build storylines.
With each match taking place as a best-of-one, it makes upsets that much more potential. Each game, teams will have to be at their 100% as one slip up could result in an immediate and irreversible loss. Each match will count – any number of points could make the difference!
What exactly are the teams playing for? Naturally, yes, there’s a bracket stage. How do teams get to the Mid-Season Showdown? Only the top 6 teams will qualify for the event, with the top 4 seeding directly in the upper bracket and 5th and 6th bringing up the lower bracket.
Basically, you don’t want to be finishing lower than 6th at all costs.
As of right now, the full schedule for the LCS 2021 Spring season is not currently available. This article will be updated in due time once it becomes available.

Besides the rebranding of the league and the passing of time – is this the same LCS we all treasure?
Something tells me that we don’t have to worry about that. The LCS 2021 Spring season looks to pack the same fire and intense competition which made it so enjoyable last year. In the 2020 season, the world witnessed Team Liquid’s journey to the top from the bottom – could something like that happen this year?

However, the league may need to step up in terms of international competition. At Worlds 2020, the LCS teams failed to make it quite far. This year, it’s a whole new game. Together with some new rosters, the LCS could make the most of this and perhaps shift the tides in their favour.
Until then, I’d like to say that the favourites are Team Liquid and TSM, but bearing in mind what I’ve just stated, it could be anybody’s season.
We’ll be keeping up to date with updates to see how the leaderboard progresses. Before then, the LCS lock-in event should be fun!
As the weeks pass, competitiveLeagueofLegendskeeps building up. Indeed, almost all regions are in full swing. In this article we’ll be diving into the LCK2021Week3recap – how far ahead does DWG Kia plan on running?
And that’s a great question. Another 10 matches across this week have continued to shape up the leaderboards. The main doubt heading in was over DWG KIA. This is all due to Fredit BRION destroying the juggernauts in a 2-0 scoreline.
When it mattered most, especially against competitors of Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports, they came out on top.
With these victories, DWG KIA is now on top of the standings at a 5-1 record. Meanwhile, worries are growing over DRX. The former competition to DWG, DRX haven’t had a very strong start – now sitting in the middle of the leaderboard. Can they pull things together as the season progresses? They’ll be tested next week when they’re challenged by Gen.G and of course, DRX.
Bearing that in mind, here’s what the standings are before heading into Week 4:

And that wraps up our recap for this week of the LCK. We hope you enjoyed it and we’ll be trying to keep up to date.
This past week we saw the commencement of the playoffs at the LCS Lock-In, and just yesterday we had our first Semifinals take place. This is where we saw Cloud9 getting through to the finals at the LCS Lock-In. Here is how it all went down:
Cloud9 first kicked off the LCS Lock-In with a 2nd placement in the group stage, in Group B. Due to this placement, they were qualified to head into the next stage, which was the playoffs.
In the playoffs they matched up versus the new TSM lineup which seemed like a tough opponent at first. TSM took the first game, but then Cloud9 came back with 2 wins of their own to take the series. With this win, they progressed on to the Semifinals stage versus 100 Thieves.
100 Thieves were also a challenging rival with their revamped roster, but Cloud9 had some tricks left. 100 Thieves grabbed 2 swift wins early on in the series, but Cloud9 managed to reverse sweep the series and win 3-2. This win was monumental, especially because it shows that Cloud9 are seeming like they have one of the best rosters heading into the LCS Spring Split.
Cloud9 are now in the Grand Finals, and are awaiting the bottom bracket semifinals between Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid. Both teams are very strong and will definitely be an obstacle for Cloud9. We will just have to wait and see who gets the best of who.

Kicking off on January 22nd, the LECSpring2021 is in full swing. With that being said, the first week of competition has passed. Here at esportsguide, we’re here to offer a recap of the past week. Let’s dive into how G2 Esports are still on top!
Indeed, let’s remind you about the format. The top 10 teams in Europe are taking place in a Double Round Robin. Such BO1 matches will decide the seeding for the Playoffs. Here’s how the results stack up following week 1:
Simply put, we’re back from where we left off last season. G2Esports and Rogue are back at it again, fighting for leadership. Until they meet, they’ll want to keep as clean a record as possible.
Over the past few days, there’s been a tonne of buzz over League of Legends. Apart from many leagues kicking off, new content is here. Part of this new content involves new champs. That’s where LoL Viego comes in. The newest champ has left certainly garnered some attention – here’s why.
Continuing on the ‘RuinedKing‘ theme, the champion’s story is wrapped up very well in the following video from RiotGames:
Released yesterday in the role of a Jungler, his abilities bring a lot to the table:
Passive – Sovereign’s Dominate – once enabled, Viego basically possesses enemies he takes down and their abilities temporarily. With health and speed bonuses, it’s incredibly interesting.
Q – a simple stab, passively may attack twice while sucking health away
W – ‘Spectral Maw’ – a hop forward to drop a mist which stuns and damages. This could be great for enemy crowds
E – ‘Harrowed Path’ – a cloak of Black Mist deposited near a wall – giving LoL Viego speed and attack bonuses.
R – ‘Heartbreaker’ – Viego drops any body he’s possessing and homes in on a nearby enemy, the weakest one available – great for picking up weak enemies.
Meta Shift Inbound?

Definitely – until a solid counter is found for the champion, he’s extremely dangerous. With the current meta revolving heavily around having a strong jungler, Viego is new and great option. However, we’ll have to see how the community both competitive and casual adapt to his integration.
FPX (Funplus Phoenix) have announced that they are signing Bo as a secondary and replacement player in the Jungle role. This is the announcement:
Please welcome Bo (Zhou Yang-Bo), who will now serve at FPX League of Legends division as our Jungler together with Tian. All the LPL registration processes have been done, and the earliest date he can play on the field is Jan 23rd. Welcome aboard! #FPX#FPXLOLpic.twitter.com/HGbZlmJRq7
Zhou “Bo” Yang-Bo kicked off his professional League of Legends career in 2020 with team eStar young. With Bo in the jungle, the team managed to place 4th by the end of the group stage, and 5-6th in the Summer playoffs. Definitely not a bad result for such a young star like Bo.
Why is Tian going inactive?
According to a recent statement made by Tian, FPX’s main Jungler, the main reason for him going inactive is due to health issues. It is stated that after his match against EDward Gaming, he felt longtime pressure for him breaking in an instant, making him feel severely sick and unwell. He discussed this with the management at FPX and will be taking a break for the next few months as he seeks professional help and aims to recover.
Credits: FPX
This is a very concerning issue, but this is definitely the right choice by both Tian and FPX. During 2020 we’ve seen how much mental and physical health is of vital importance for professional players. Hopefully Tian gets a speed recovery and returns to the rift as soon as possible!

Rogue have just announced that Hans Sama will be extending his contract with Rogue until 2022. Here is their announcement:
One more year ☝️ We are happy to announce that one of the best #LEC Bot Laners is extending his contract with us. This is a testament to the environment that we created.#GoRogue@Hanssama! pic.twitter.com/k2mq51uio7
21-year-old Steven “Hans sama” Liv is a French professional League of Legends player. He first started competing back in 2014 with The Gentle Team, and joined Rogue back in late 2019. His best accomplishments so far were with team Misfits, as they placed 5-8th at the 2017 World Championship, as well as 2nd in the 2017 EU LCS Summer Split. Here are some of Hans Sama’s best achievements in his League of Legends career:
In an interview they posted on twitter, Hans Sama’s main reason for extending his contract was that he believes that in the coming years, Rogue can go far in terms of international competition. His second reason was that all the staff and members of Rogue are very productive, and work hard to create such a great atmosphere within the organization.
Hans Sama’s contract extension doesn’t really come as a surprise, especially after their results in 2020 in all the esports titles they’re involved in. Their work has truly paid off and we cannot wait to see what they have to offer in 2021.
