This past week we saw the commencement of the playoffs at the LCS Lock-In, and just yesterday we had our first Semifinals take place. This is where we saw Cloud9 getting through to the finals at the LCS Lock-In. Here is how it all went down:
Cloud9 through to finals at LCS Lock-In – How?
Cloud9 first kicked off the LCS Lock-In with a 2nd placement in the group stage, in Group B. Due to this placement, they were qualified to head into the next stage, which was the playoffs.
In the playoffs they matched up versus the new TSM lineup which seemed like a tough opponent at first. TSM took the first game, but then Cloud9 came back with 2 wins of their own to take the series. With this win, they progressed on to the Semifinals stage versus 100 Thieves.
100 Thieves were also a challenging rival with their revamped roster, but Cloud9 had some tricks left. 100 Thieves grabbed 2 swift wins early on in the series, but Cloud9 managed to reverse sweep the series and win 3-2. This win was monumental, especially because it shows that Cloud9 are seeming like they have one of the best rosters heading into the LCS Spring Split.
What’s next?
Cloud9 are now in the Grand Finals, and are awaiting the bottom bracket semifinals between Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid. Both teams are very strong and will definitely be an obstacle for Cloud9. We will just have to wait and see who gets the best of who.
