This next event has been a long time coming. Indeed, we’ve offered coverage for both Qualifier events but now it’s finally here. Accordingly, feel free to read on for all the viewership details with regards to the VCT NA Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs next week!

Event Background

With regards to event background, this event is one of many. For those unaware, Riot Games has devised a framework for competitive VALORANT in which multiple regional events will build up to one Masters event. Accordingly, the next major is the Stage 3 Masters Berlin in September.

Bearing this in mind, this event is an opportunity for the 8 best competing North American VALORANT squads to earn the 3 seeds available for this Masters Berlin event. Beyond this, $100,000 are also up for grabs at this online event.

The following are the 8 competing teams fighting for the stakes from 11th August to 15th:

  • Sentinels
  • XSET
  • 100 Thieves
  • Team Envy
  • TSM
  • FaZe Clan
  • Luminosity Gaming
  • Rise

Half of the competitors qualified through Challengers 1 Qualifier and the remaining 4, through Challengers 2 this past weekend.

For those that don’t make it to Masters Berlin, there are also VCT Circuit Points to earn.

Format

Across the five days of competition, the format will involve the classic double-elimination bracket we see so frequently in esports. From the start, all 8 teams will kick off within the Winner’s Bracket as determined through random seeding. Although random, do note that for each first game, a Challengers 1 team faces a Challengers 2 team.

As a reminder, being in the Winner’s Bracket means that teams have a second chance should they lose. However, once in the Loser’s Bracket, one loss means packing bags and being eliminated. Otherwise, all matches excluding the BO5 Grand Final, will run as a BO3 match. .

Predictions for the VCT NA Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs

Right off the rip, we can easily make a distinction with regards to predictions. To begin with, all teams coming for Challengers 1 are more likely to place higher than Challengers 2.

Why? It’s because most of the teams from Challengers 2 had already attempted to qualify in Challengers 1. Bearing this in mind, Challengers 1 teams already have proven some of their strengths.

  • Challengers 1 teams: Sentinels, XSET, 100 Thieves, Team Envy
  • Challengers 2 teams: TSM, FaZe Clan, Luminosity Gaming, Rise

Narrowing it down from the top 4, I believe it’s incredibly safe to say that Sentinels are your favourites without a doubt. Accordingly, both regionally and internationally they are reigning champions, especially after claiming VCT Stage 2 Masters Reykjavik. Otherwise, the remaining three will likely contend closely with one another as they try to take down Sentinels.
