For those unaware, this is the third season of the Call of Duty League. Accordingly, to warm up the teams, the following pre-season event will only have a prize pool of $30,000 and no points or seeds on the line.

Once again, we’ll have the 12 franchised teams uniting with 4v4 squads, competing in an offline environment at the Arlington Esports Stadium.

As a reminder, the following are your 12 franchised teams:

  • Atlanta FaZe
  • Boston Breach
  • Florida Mutineers
  • London Royal Ravens
  • Los Angeles Guerrillas
  • Los Angeles Thieves
  • Minnesota ROKKR
  • New York Subliners
  • Paris Legion
  • Seattle Surge
  • OpTic Texas
  • Toronto Ultra

Since last season, note how the OpTic Chicago and Dallas Empire names have merged, while Boston Breach has formed. Indeed, the event will run from 21st to 23rd January – read on as we dive further into the details.

Format

With regards to the format, it seems to be a single elimination format. Speaking of which, the teams have already been seeded into a bracket depending on their performance from last season.

With all teams heading to this event, 8 teams have already been seeded into the round of 12. Here’s how that first round looks like:

Predictions

Indeed, with lower stakes, the whole aim of this event is to check out how the competition stacks up.

In terms of favourites, it’s evident that the likes of FaZe Clan, OpTic Texas and Toronto Ultra are the clear rosters to watch out for.

Yet, saying this there are new rosters such as Los Angeles Guerrillas which look to put on a show thanks to new-found talent. We can’t wait to see how this season kicks off!
