Davidp and Ambi standing in for Giants Gaming

It has been made public that Davidp and Ambi will be standing in for Vodafone Giants Gaming at VCT 2021 Stage 3 Challengers 2. Here is everything you need to know:

Davidp and Ambi standing in for Giants Gaming – Who is joining?

If you’re not familiar with Davidp, then you’ve certainly not been active in the VALORANT competitive scene. David was instrumental to G2 Esports’ success in 2020, started as a stand-in and then became a full-time player. Unfortunately the team lost its feel for the game, and they felt like they had to make a roster change. David was the first to go, and then he was a free agent. He was without a team since March of 2021, as that was when he announced his new project with Excel Esports. Despite the hype around this lineup, it only took them 3 months to get him benched from the squad. Now he’s looking at redemption by aiding this Giants lineup through VCT Stage 3 Challengers 2.

What about Ambi?

Unfortunately, not much is known about Ambi. He was formerly part of Vikingekrig Esports, and he’s been a part of Team Sampi since last October. On July 14th he revealed that he’s departing from the Czech squad and now it’s been announced that he’ll be part of Giants Gaming.  He’s still very young, at just 21 years of age, and still has a lot of potential to unveil. Who knows, this might just be the perfect fit for the Spanish organisation.

This is how Giants Gaming’s roster is looking like heading into their next event:

  • Johan “Meddo” Renbjörk Lundborg
  • Aaro “hoody” Peltokangas
  • Adolfo “Fit1nho” Gallego
  • David “Davidp” Prins
  • Štěpán “Ambi” Beránek

Fnatic reach #1 in VALORANT EMEA Rankings

According to credible website Thespike.gg, Fnatic have managed to reach #1 in the VALORANT EMEA Rankings. Here is everything you need to know about Fnatic’s journey so far:

Fnatic reach #1 in VALORANT EMEA Rankings – Origins

Fnatic entered the VALORANT scene back in February with the SUMNFC roster. This team consisted of Boaster, Doma, Mystic, Moe40 as well as Tsack. The team had just come off of a 2nd place in the First Strike event in the late stages of 2020. In the initial stages of 2021, they weren’t doing too bad, but something just wasn’t fitting correctly. Because of this, Fnatic opted to bench both Tsack and Moe40, to pursue 2 young stars and fraggers. They brought on Derke and Magnum on the 8th of April and they have been very dominant ever since. Here are their best results since the change:

  • 2nd at VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters – Reykjavík – 30th May 2021 – $100,000
  • 2nd in VCT 2021: EMEA Stage 2 Challengers Finals – 2nd May 2021 – $18,040
  • 1st at VCT 2021: Europe Stage 2 Challengers 2 – 18th April 2021 – $17,957

Obviously the Stage 2 Masters performance was the one that left everyone in awe. Not only did they eliminate North American team Version1, but they also took down their European rivals Team Liquid, and the Korean lineup of NUTURN Gaming. Unfortunately these victories were bittersweet as they faced a 3-0 loss against the North American Sentinels.

Fnatic’s earnings

Since their beginning of competition in VALORANT, Fnatic have earned $135,952 USD in winnings, 2nd in all of Europe. Just under Team Liquid, and above G2. If you can remember, G2 was one of the strongest teams back in Summer of 2020. Despite being very successful, the team has undergone multiple changes in 2021 to pursue a more stable results sheet, and hopefully become #1 once more.

NiP VALORANT ec1s – Bringing New Leadership

Covering another VALORANT roster change earlier today, we have another one lined up. Accordingly, NiP VALORANT ec1s is also in the news as a new signing for the roster. Indeed, the Liquid player looks to take over as the leader – read on to understand the context!

NiP VALORANT ec1s – Can He Replace Ex6Tenz?

Why is Adam “ec1s” Eccles being brought onto the roster? Mainly, it’s due to the fact that current player of Kevin “Ex6TenZ” Droolans is taking a step back after suffering injuries. Accordingly, the team needs a replacement while the player recovers.

Indeed, here’s what the player has the say about joining the organization in the official press release by NiP:

It’s a great feeling and an honor to be joining NIP: an organization that I’ve watched since I was a little kid many years ago. Seeing their legendary CS:GO rosters winning events, I alwways aspired to get there on day.

Our roster is bursting with talent, experience and has the right mixture to be the best. Our upcoming boot camp in Serbia is a great opportunity to meet everyone and kick start off our journey together! I’m pumped.

Team Envy Release kaboose – What’s Next for the VALORANT Roster?

Only last week, VCT 2021: North America Stage 3 Challengers 1 concluded. It was here that Team Envy placed 4th. Indeed, it’s a respectable placing, but the organization always aspires for the top. Accordingly, the news of Team Envy release kaboose does come as a surprise. Let’s find out the details!

Team Envy Release kaboose – Why?

Simple put, it seems like the youngster is stepping away from esports. Having been with Team Envy since the very beginning of the VALORANT roster, it comes as a surprise but it’s a respectable decision. Here’s exactly what he had to say:

At the moment I have decided to put my esports career on hold and look towards other opportunities, I’ve made so many great friends with esports and wish you all the best!

It’s been a wild ride, and he’s been a key part in keeping the Team Envy roster as a strong competitor. Notably, the best accomplishment is likely their win at the VCT 2021: North America Stage 1 Challengers 2 event over Sentinels.

Now what for this roster? Well, it sees that instead of kaboose, they’ll likely have to play with the loaned player of Marved from FaZe Clan or perhaps go hunting for new talent.

VALORANT Game Changers Team Besties receive 18-month ban from competition

Yesterday, Riot Games announced that a team participating in the VALORANT Game Changers event, Team Besties are going to receive an 18-month ban from any sort of VALORANT competition. Here is their announcement:

Team Besties receive 18-month ban – Why?

For any of you that require context, Team Besties first played against team Just Breathe in the Open Qualifiers of the VALORANT Game Changers tournament. They lost both maps (Icebox) 13-8, and (Ascent) 13-5 respectively. Kei, the player in question, went 19/31/9 in the first series. Then, in the following series against Team Invicta, this same Kei (Which probably had the account switched) got a 59/26/12 score. As you can clearly identify, Kei either stepped up big time, or another player was taking part instead of her.

According to rule 7.2.7 by Riot Games:

Playing under another player’s account or Riot ID, or soliciting or inducing someone else to play under another player’s account or Riot ID, is prohibited.

This instantly prompted the Tournament Operators to monitor and investigate the situation. Team Besties did not cooperate with regards to the investigation, and also denied scheduling for interviews with Riot. The 7.2.7 ruling violation was already a solid year worthy ban, but the non-cooperation has extended it to an additional 6 months.

Here’s a list of all banned players:

  • Jenna “koi” Tang
  • Katie “kateuuu” Tran
  • Mia “kei” Leong
  • Jasmine “memrice” Huynh
  • Jennifer “wetboosy” Li
  • Bella “soju” Rierad

It’s sad to see that these things are still happening in modern esports. Thankfully, Riot Games have not been light with their banning when it comes to ruling violations, and this will hopefully motivate others to do the right thing in the future!

Acend win VCT Europe Stage 3 Challengers 1

Last weekend, the European roster of Acend managed to win the VCT Europe Stage 3 Challengers 1 event. Here’s how it all played out:

Final Standing + Winnings:

  • 1st – €15,000 – Acend
  • 2nd – €10,000 – G2 Esports
  • 3rd – €6,000 – Guild Esports
  • 4th – €4,000 – FunPlus Phoenix
  • 5th-6th – Team Liquid
  • 5th-6th – TFnatic
  • 7th-8th – Team BDS
  • 7th-8th – Rix.GG Thunder

Acend win VCT Europe Stage 3 Challengers 1 – How did they do it?

Acend started the tournament with a dominant victory over Rix.GG Thunder. Their next opponent, FunPlus Phoenix proved to be a bit more of a tougher team. That series resulted in a 2-1 scoreline in favour of Acend. Guild Esports was the next opponent in line, a team which had just beaten Team BDS and Fnatic. This series was expected to be much closer, but unfortunately it was just 2 straight stomps from the European lineup.

Grand Finals

The streak of wins got the team into the Grand Finals, where they were eagerly waiting to see who would join them through the lower bracket. To many’s surprise, G2 was the team that kept on progressing. They won against Rix, Fnatic, FPX, and Guild to reach the finals. Despite such a heroic effort to reach the finals, G2 didn’t replicate their success in the later stages of the event. They only managed to win a single map in the best of 5, and lost the series 3-1.

Sentinels win VCT NA Stage 3 Challengers 1

This past weekend we saw the North American squad of Sentinels win the VCT NA Stage 3 Challengers 1. Here’s how it all went down:

Sentinels win VCT NA Stage 3 Challengers 1 – How did they do it?

The Sentinels started the tournament with a big 2-1 win against Gen.G Esports. This placed them directly into the upper bracket semi finals against XSET. To everyone’s surprise, after a very back and forth series, XSET won the best of 3 with a 2-1 scoreline. This meant that Sentinels had to grind their way back up through the lower bracket. And that’s exactly what they did.

Lower-Bracket Run

First came the Pioneers, an easy 2-0 for SEN, then there was the Team Envy lineup, which was also not a huge obstacle for the Stage 2 Masters Champs. Their final test before the grand finals was against 100 Thieves. The first map (Haven) went the distance, but ultimately it was Sentinels that took the win (15-13). The next map, Sentinels showed a brilliant performance on the recently released map, Breeze. With this latest win, they got their spot into the Grand Final.

Grand Final

Funnily enough, it was XSET against the Sentinels in the Grand Finals. The first map went in the way of XSET, but what followed was a set of dominant performances by Sentinels. They won Breeze 13-7, Icebox 14-12, and Ascent 13-10 to be crowned North American champions and achieve that #1 Challengers Playoffs seed.

Fnatic and Team Liquid eliminated from VCT 2021 EU Stage 3 Challengers 1

We’re 2 days into the VCT 2021 EU Stage 3 Challengers 1 and we’ve already had plenty of teams getting eliminated. Latest in the elimination row were Europe’s representative teams during Masters Reykjavik, Fnatic and Team Liquid. Here’s how it all went down:

Team Liquid‘s journey at VCT 2021 EU Stage 3 Challengers 1

Team Liquid kicked off the tournament with an upsetting loss against Fnatic in the Quarterfinals. They lost 2-1 to them and were dropped down to the lower bracket against Team BDS. Here Team Liquid performed as expected and won the best of 3 to get into the second round of the lower bracket. Unfortunately here they had to take on the dominant FunPlus Phoenix squad led by ANGE1. Both maps were quite close, but in the end FPX were better, and they move on to the 3rd round of the lower bracket

Fnatic‘s elimination

Oppositely, Fnatic started the tournament in strong fashion, defeating their main rivals, Team Liquid. From there they were tasked to battle Guild Esports, and despite a heroic effort, Guild were still the winners of that series. This dropped Fnatic to the lower bracket against the newly formed G2 Esports. G2 played extremely well on the first map (Icebox) and won it to get the advantage in the series. The second map went the distance, and it was G2 which again grabbed the win, 17-15.

And just like that, 2 of Europe’s strongest teams, eliminated from Stage 3 Challengers 1. This event is already shaping up some interesting story lines. In fact, Acend eye themselves another title under their belt considering they slotted themselves in the Grand Finals.
