MAD Lions Vizicsacsi – New Coach For Playoffs

As teams prepare themselves for the biggest events of the season, any potential advantage is crucial. Indeed, one way to do so is by training to be better than the position. Commonly, this is done by signing coaches – that’s exactly what the MAD Lions Vizicsacsi signing is all about!

MAD Lions Vizicsacsi – Strictly Top Lane

More specifically, the veteran will be returning to competitive LoL only to coach his former lane. Accordingly, this means that the coach will focus on top lane.

Only retiring two years ago, the competitor of five years is definitely a respected name in the European community.

Having bounced across the top European teams across his career, he’s known for his consistency although never having won the European Championship.

At MAD Lions, the veteran will be coaching Irfan “Armut” Tukek. Is this final piece what the team needs to impress?

Heading into the LEC Playoffs, MAD Lions are among one of the favourites to take it. Finishing with a 12-6 record, tied with both G2 Esports and Misfits Gaming, it’s definitely close.

Indeed, when it’s close, little things such as a coach could make the difference.

They’ll surely need to be at their best when they match up with G2 on 14th August.

How to Watch LCS Championship 2021 – teams, format, schedule, streams, predictions

It’s that time of year for competitive League of Legends. Indeed, we are headed to the exciting post-season events which determine the outcome of the entire season. Accordingly, regional events such as the LCS Championship 2021 are only days away. Read on to learn How to Watch!

Event Background

Credits: LCS Twitter

The LCS Championship 2021 follows the conclusion of the Summer Season which ended a week ago. Notably, teams earned a spot into this event, with only the top 8 teams making it to this point.

Bearing this in mind, do note that for the LCS, the points carried over from the Spring – this means that to make it to this event, it took an all-year effort from the franchised organizations.

Running from 7th August to 29th August, we’ll introduce the competitors in the following list:

  • 100 Thieves
  • Cloud9
  • Dignitas
  • Evil Geniuses
  • Golden Guardians
  • Immortals
  • Team SoloMid (TSM)
  • Team Liquid

Seeding has also determined how the format will proceed too.

What’s there to play for at this event? Well, this isn’t the largest event of the season for no reason. The following seeds are up for grabs, only for the top 3 contenders:

  1. Worlds 2021 Main Event
  2. Worlds 2021 Main Event
  3. Play-In 2021 Worlds

Let’s see how the format will shape up a victor.

Format

With the best 8 teams in North America, there’s no other format to go for. Indeed, RIot Games will be using the Double Elimination Bracket.

Each and every single match will be a BO5.

Take a look at how the bracket looks like at this very moment:

As a reminder, here are how the teams stack up and were hence seeded:

  1. TSM
  2. 100 Thieves
  3. Evil Geniuses
  4. Cloud9
  5. Team Liquid
  6. Dignitas
  7. Immortals
  8. Golden Guardians

Quite a simple format. For those unaware, the Double Elimination bracket involves two sides. In this case, 6 teams start in Winner’s and 2 start in Loser’s. Once in Loser’s, note that teams only have one chance, where one loss sends them packing.

Schedule for the LCS Championship 2021 (CEST)

Although only 8 teams are contending, the competition is spread out to the August 29th thanks to a lengthy schedule. Let’s try and provide a short snippet below:

In terms of predictions, it’s quite obvious that the rankings heading into this event can help quite a bit.

Bearing this in mind, it’s an incredibly tight competition between the top 5.

Yet, we’ll have to favour the top 2 seeds in the form of TSM and 100 Thieves. Otherwise, everyone has a shot, with the lower three seeds not looking very likely to go too far.

Wild Rift Rivals 2021 – LCK and LPL Teams Invited!

Over the past few days, we’ve been watching the recent trend. Specifically, the one where multiple LoL organizations are diving into competitive Wild Rift. Read on to learn how Riot Games is embracing this at the Wild Rift Rivals 2021 event!

Wild Rift Rivals 2021 – Who’s Attending?

Running from 11 to 14th August, the Wild Rift Rivals 2021 is an invitational looking to kick things off. Apart from retired competitive League of Legends teams taking place, the main event features Korean and Chinese LoL organizations.

Here’s what the main event will involve:

  • $90,000 prize pool
  • Three LCK teams – KT Rolster, T1 and Sandbox Gaming
  • Three LPL teams – Edward Gaming, Bilibili Gaming and Oh My God
  • Format involves three rounds and a final

Looking at the format, it looks to pit the regions against one another instead of individual organizations fighting for themselves.

This event is definitely a small test to gauge the popularity of the esport, especially by using familiar names with the community.

Indeed, it’s not just the LCK and LPL teams who are getting involved, but others such as the LCS too.

Perhaps Wild Rift could act as a sister esport title for Riot Games, such as VALORANT.

Riot Games confirm Akshan will be disabled for Worlds 2021

Riot Games have just revealed that Akshan will be disabled for Worlds 2021. Here’s everything you need to know:

Why is it big news?

Recently we covered a topic similar to this, with context referring to the LEC Playoffs. Akshan, League of Legends’ newest champion entered the summoner’s rift but we yet to see him in action. Due to ruling 7.4.3 we won’t be seeing Akshan at the playoffs, however many took it for granted that we’ll be seeing him at Worlds too. Unfortunately this is not the case. Check tweet below:

Community Reaction

Many were disappointed with this news as a lot of fans were excited to see this new and ecstatic champion played at the biggest stage. Riot have been quite vocal on this recently, and while it’s great to be transparent about certain decisions, not all have been the brightest recently.

Akshan disabled for Worlds 2021 – Why?

Along with Max’s statement, came a question from Fernando Cardenete, asking why Akshan banned at Worlds. Max replied with the following:

“These decisions are obviously always done in working closely together with the Gameplay team. And if a Champion only gets limited exposure in pro play that makes balancing significantly harder of course – which is part of the reason the old rule existed in the first place.”

Doinb reaches 2000 Career kills in LPL

Last week, Chinese player Doinb has managed to reach 2000 career kills in the LPL (League of Legends Pro League). Here is everything you need to know:

Doinb 2000 Career kills in LPL – How?

Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang achieved this milestone in his Week 8 match against JD Gaming whilst playing Kassadin. Doinb did not only get the 2000 career kills, but he also aided tremendously in their best of 3 victory against their main rivals.

Doinb joined the team back in December of 2018, to replace Yu “Cool” Jia-Jun. He’s had quite a lengthy career so far, and played under numerous Chinese teams. He’s been at the forefront of competition and has placed highly in multiple tournaments and events. Here are some of his best achievements with the Chinese team:

  • 1st in the 2019 World Championship – 10th November 2019 – $834,375
  • 1st in 2019 Summer Split LPL – 6th September 2019 – $210,159
  • 2nd at 2021 Spring Split LPL – 18th April 2021 – $153,351

The Summer Split so far

At the time of writing, FunPlus Phoenix are sitting in 2nd place with 11 wins and 3 losses. In reality, they are tied with first placed team EDward Gaming, however due to their results in game, FPX are 1 point short off 1st. This season has been far from easy for the entirety of the FPX roster, mainly due to unexpected roster changes.

Sentinels Entering Wild Rift

North American organisation Sentinels have announced that they are entering Wild Rift as their next esport. Here’s all you need to know about the news:

Sentinels Entering Wild Rift – Who are they signing?

Sentinels are not taking an ordinary approach when it comes to signing their Wild Rift lineup. In fact, they have opened up an application for all interested players wishing to join the team. All that needs to be done is to follow this link, and click on where it says fill out questionnaire. In this form, players are required to fill in their necessary information and include other info like ‘Preferred role’, ‘team experience’ etc…

Sentinels are following the footsteps of other NA orgs TSM FTX and Cloud9. Cloud9 have done something similar when they announced their first signing. These teams have also recently revealed their lineups, and will surely be solid contenders for the upcoming Wild Rift events.

Looking Forward

Sentinels have obviously exploded these past few months after their superb dominance in VALORANT. Not only have they been a strong team in their region, but they’ve also won the Stage 2 Masters event, the first ever tournament featuring teams from other regions. Sentinels hope to have similar success in their second Riot Games title entry.

We’ll be sure to write about their Wild Rift signing when the Sentinels announce it.

Akshan disabled for LEC Summer playoffs 2021

Riot have revealed that the new League of Legends champion, Akshan, will be disabled for the LEC Summer Split Playoffs 2021. Here is what you need to know:

Akshan disabled for LEC Summer playoffs 2021 – Why?

As can be seen in the tweet above by Riot Max (Head of Esports for LoL Europe), the LEC have updated their ruling on new champions. According to 7.4.3, champions which have not been on live servers for more than two weeks are automatically restricted. Apart from that, Riot reached out to the teams participating, and the majority of the teams declined Akshan’s participation.

Community Reaction

Immediately after the announcement, the community was split on this decision. G2’s head coach Grabbz voiced his opinion on the matter, stating the following:

Fans answered by revealing that the main ruling stated that the “new champions” must be enabled in all 4 of the top regions to play out in the next international tournament. Now this makes everything super confusing, as Riot stated that Akshan is to be played at the 2021 World Championship. However, this was later cleared up by Max with the tweet pinned at the top of the article.

Unlike most champion releases, Akshan has seen a very disappointing winrate ratio. As it stands, he has a 37.9% winrate on Champion.gg. Certainly something that was unexpected, especially since he’s the newest to enter the rift. Usually, upon Riot’s champion releases, there is community backlash due to the champion’s dominance. However this time, it seems like it’s not the case. We won’t be seeing him in the European playoffs, but hopefully we’ll be seeing Akshan in action at Worlds.

Daeny DWG Analyst – Enough For Second Seed?

Indeed, DAWMON Gaming has been in the news recently and not for the usual reasons. Unfortunately, the organization has fallen short of their dominant past selves this season. However, the signing of Daeny DWG Analyst could be the missing piece. Read on to learn more!

Daeny DWG Analyst – Returning Home

Although a recent change, this technically new. Indeed, Daeny has a history with DWG before signing with T1 recently. Having failed to help T1 take that next step, perhaps a return to a prior organization could be more succesful.

Overall, this is a win-win situation for both T1 and DWG KIA.

Thanks to his familiarity with the players on the roster for DWG KIA, the team is more likely to reap some quicker changes. However, will it be enough to clench first place?

WorldsDayRecap

Right now, DWG KIA sit at 4th place in the rankings, tied with T1 and Afreeca Freecs at an 8-6 record, leading on map difference. At this point in time, DWG KIA still have an awesome chance to crack top 2 should they play flawless and those above them mess up.

Let’s see if ‘Daeny’ has anything to offer in the remaining weeks of LCK Summer 2021.
