The esports horizon is constantly cropping up with new opportunities for growth and investment in terms of so-called ‘scenes’, a term used to describe the esports behind a certain title. Mobile gaming is regularly coming out with new, easy-to-play and free title which push the possibility of taking competition to another level – an example of this is Vainglory All Stars – a new 3v3 brawler on mobile which certainly has the potential.
When speaking of brawling on a mobile device, the leading Supercell title of Brawl Stars certainly comes to mind, having hosted ten international events just last year, summing up to over $500,000 of prize pool placed on the line.
Could Vainglory All Stars rival this?
They’re certainly aware of the comparison, with a similar-looking game built on familiar foundations as revealed by the sneak peeks made available to us.
Vainglory may sound familiar, as it’s already an established free-to-play mobile MOBA which is succeeding immensely as an esport: Vainglory All Stars is set in the same world as Rogue Games seem to be branching out in similar fashion to Riot Games. The co-founder of Bazooka Tango, the father company, has spoken out on this potential competitive move:
“Esports is something we talk about often. We obviously have a ton of experience there. There aren’t a lot of mobile games that have been able to generate and sustain the scale Vainglory achieved within esports, and we were there right from the start, We saw it grow and the landscape evolve.

Being so close to esports for so many years, we definitely believe defining your game as an esport early is just a recipe for failure. Players don’t care if you say it is one. But if you build a great game, allow players to partner up and compete, they’re going to find a way to formalize that…..tread{ing} around the esports space but the players will ultimately decide that”

The pressure is on for the title. However, just like with other titles that are seemingly rumored to be competitive from the getgo: everything depends on the player base, with the same going for others such as Valorant.
The title certainly has potential and an established name: it’ll have to compete against the likes of Brawl Stars to make it anywhere though.
