Ubisoft announce the European League – All the Details!

News

26 May 2020

Following the announcement of the North American Pro League, Ubisoft is beginning to release details for the other regions of Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. A month from now, the newly announced European League will be kicking off and it’s terrifically exciting – read on for more details!

The inaugural season will kick off with a total of 10 European teams: eight from the European Pro League Season XI and the remainder from the European Challenger League Season XI – the best of the best. Just like the other leagues, it’s all broken down into 3 stages, with each stage consisting of 9 playdays from which a top 4 will be sorted.

These four will earn a spot in the stage Six Major and some coveted Global Standings. Accumulating these points are essential to qualifying for the Six Invitational at the end.

Following each stage, the European League Rankings are refreshed and everybody will start all over again. However, the rankings are far from forgotten as in November the ranking from each Stage will be considered when calculating the Final Rankings of the Season. The top 4 will have the chance to become the European Champion while the lower half fight off the notion of falling to the European Challenger League or entering the Relegation Playoffs.

Following this, the best teams from each region will be invited to the Six Invitational, though details on that are yet to be announced for each league. Note that like all the other regions, 2020 will be an exception for the proposed format as it’s already May, so only two stages of the competition will be played out.

Do note that the aforementioned European Challenger League will be offering up-and-coming competition a chance to climb to the top through National Leagues – by the end of this first season, 12 teams will reach the European Challenger League to fight for that single spot into the European League.
