The Krieg Nerf finally arrives to CS:GO

The long awaited CS:GO update has finally been released, and with it came some unexpecting, yet interesting changes. Weapon patch notes are as follows:

– SG553 – Reduced rate of fire and accuracy to bring the weapon’s value to be more in line with other rifles.
– AUG – Improved standing accuracy while unscoped. Slightly reduced scoped accuracy.
– M4A1-S – Price reduced to $2900.
– Deagle – Improved accuracy while jumping, lowering the time to recover accuracy after the player lands.
– Tec-9 – Reduced firing inaccuracy.
– Bizon – Increased armor penetration.

The #NerfKrieg dates back to October of last year when the Counter-Strike devs decided to buff the scoped weapons to switch up the meta, which did work, but not exactly how they planned it. When both the AUG and SG553 had a significant reduction in price, everyone saw the weapon’s potential and they were questioning why they weren’t purchasing the weapons before.

After everyone got used to both these weapons, Valve realised that it was getting out of hand and decided to slowly nerf the guns bit by bit. The first nerf arrived at the AUG which impacted its price and fire rate. The AUG went to its original price before the buff and its fire rate decreased to 600RPM from 667RPM (M4A4 RPM). Since these changes the AUG has seen a significant reduction in purchases as the M4A4 regains its position as the most popular Counter-Terrorist Rifle.

Now with these recent weapon changes, having the Krieg at a reduced RoF, we will definitely see less of the weapon and more of the Counter-Strike we used to love, where T-side would consist of AK47’s only. Below is a clip clearly showing the SG553 Rate of Fire nerf:

Some interesting changes that have also been implemented are the reduction in price of the M4A1-S to $2900. The weapon overall has had quite a couple of buffs in the past months, but it seems like it wasn’t enough to make the majority of players pick it over the godtier M4A4. Maybe with this price change it’ll manage to convert some players. Another unexpected change is the increase in jumping accuracy that the deagle has received. It seems like Valve wants everyone to be phoon, bunnyhopping around the map one-deaging everyone in their path.

The Tec-9 and Bizon also received some love as the Tec-9 received an increase in firing accuracy and the Bizon acquired an increase in armor penetration. This will indubitably balance out the SMG’s as currently the MP9 and Mac-10 are the superior Sub-machine guns.

This patch has been received well from the community and everyone has been liking the balance changes, especially the Krieg nerf. Professional Counter-Strike has also received some stability as according to some, the SG553 was ruining the professional CS:GO experience.
