What is RLCS?
The Rocket League Championship Series, also known as the RLCS, is a league funded by Psyonix. The 1st Season launched in 2016, giving an opportunity for the top North American and European teams to compete for $75,000 in prizepool. Season 3 of RLCS introduced Oceania as a 3rd region that would be participating in the league. Henceforth this increased the number of spots for the World Championship from 8 to 10. Many championships later, in season 7, South America was added to the list of regions to play in the league. The Season 9 Rocket League World Championship will be hosted in Dallas between the 24th and 26th of April.
Who is currently leading?
As of Week 5, NA RLCS currently has G2 leading the group with a 4-0 score, followed up by NRG that is currently sitting at a 4-1 score. EU RLCS has Dignitas at the top of the leaderboard with a 4-0 lead, closely followed up by 2 teams, Renault Vitality and Veloce Esports which are tied up 4-1 with the same goal difference. Oceania is still in week 3, and there are currently 2 teams leading, Cringe Society and Mindfreak , both with a score of 2-0. South America have Novus Aevi leading the pack with a score of 4-0 in week 4, and in second place are The Three Sins.
Overall Team Performance
Some very noticeable disappointing results are from teams like Cloud9 which are 1-3 and Rogue which are 1-4 in NA RLCS. FC Barcelona is looking very good in EU RLCS, beating the likes of Endpoint, Reciprocity, and Veloce, only losing a series versus Renault Vitality. Dignitas is also looking very promising, remaining undefeated and beating some really good teams. A much better performance than season 8.
When does RLCS continue?
RLCS will resume this weekend with some very chaotic matches such as:
- FC Barcelona vs Dignitas
- Spacestation Gaming vs Cloud 9
- Renault Vitality vs Reciprocity
