Yesterday, the Rocket League Spring Series came to an end, and we saw the Renault Vitality Frenchmen take the victory with an additional $23,000 in winnings.

Final winnings + Standings

  • 2nd – Dignitas – $17,000
  • 3rd – Endpoint – $16,000
  • 4th – Canyons – $15,000
  • 5th/6th – mousesports – $14,000
  • 5th/6th – The Clappers – $14,000
  • 7th/8th – FC Barcelona – $13,000
  • 7th/8th – Team BDS – $13,000

How did they do it?

Renault Vitality had an outstanding performance during the Season 10 of EU RLCS, finishing 2nd, just under Dignitas which also displayed high tier rocket league. Vitality and a couple of other teams were picked to participate in the EU Spring Series due to their placement in RLCS, whereas some teams were qualified through open qualifiers.

After the brackets were set, Renault Vitality matched up against Team BDS which are an up and coming spanish roster. The series ended with a 3-1 scoreline favoring the Vitality which progressed them to the upper bracket semi-finals where they would meet Mousesports. The match versus Mousesports was very close, but Renault Vitality managed to clutch it out in the end, winning the series 3-2. They then advanced to the Upper bracket finals versus Endpoint which ended in a complete stomp by Vitality, ending the best of seven series with a 4-1 scoreline.

Meanwhile, Dignitas have been climbing the ranks through the lower bracket, following their initial loss versus Canyons in the upper bracket. In the loser bracket they won 3-0 versus FC Barcelona, 3-1 versus Mousesports and they got the revenge versus Canyons by winning 3-1 in the 3rd round of the losers bracket. They then faced off Endpoint, which they managed to beat 4-2 and then advanced to the Grand Finals to verse their rivals, Renault Vitality.

The series ended in a 4-0 sweep favoring Vitality, having a default win as they progressed through the upper bracket, and then winning each game with a one or two goal lead.

The French squad went under a lot of criticism when they had released the scottish talent Scrubkilla, however they seem to be answering this criticism with these regional wins. It has been made very clear that Renault Vitality and Dignitas are Europe’s best teams, however there are some underdog teams that are capable of taking that title away from them. Will they manage to overtake the top dogs or are these 2 teams just too strong?
