LEC 2021 Playoffs 2021 Recap – A New Era?
Yes, I’ll say it again, this might be a new era for Europe. Accordingly, ever since 2013, only three separate teams have ever claimed a title – namely Fnatic and G2 Esports with one win for Alliance.
This achievement sounds a lot easier than I make it out to be – let’s observe the journey that the champions had to go through to claim this win:
- Round 1 WB -MAD Lions vs Rogue (3-1) – an essential and incredible win over Rogue in their first game set them up for success. Shocking the community, it seems that MAD Lions were a different beast hungry for the €200,000 and the seed for the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational.
- Semi-Final WB – G2 Esports vs MAD Lions (1-3) – facing off against the other favourite of the event, MAD Lions once again pulled another victory through thanks to their new rookie signings
- Grand Final – Rogue vs MAD Lions (3-2) – Rogue go up 2-0 and things are looking dire. What do MAD Lions do? They pull off a legendary reverse sweep the community will be talking about for years to come and become champions!
Despite there being no online crowd, it was incredible. Regardless of whether or not viewers supported them, credit was given and everyone praised the incredible evening of competition.
