Following VCT Masters Copenhagen, the second year of competitive VALORANT is coming to a close. Accordingly, with VALORANT Champions incoming, one final event remains for each region. Read on to learn how to watch the VCT NA Last Chance Qualifier!

Specifically, ‘last chance’ refers to the fact that this is the very last opportunity for teams to make it to the VALORANT Champions event – the most prestigious event of the year!

Taking place online, Riot Games is hosting an LCQ event for each region.

In this featured article, we’re exclusively focusing on North America. Accordingly, the event will be online and run from 4th August to 14th August.

Additionally, the top 8 teams who haven’t yet qualified for VALORANT Champions will be fighting for one final spot. Here are the competitors listed below:

  • The Guard
  • FaZe Clan
  • NRG
  • Shopify Rebellion
  • Cloud9
  • 100 Thieves
  • Evil Geniuses
  • Sentinels

Read on as we discuss the format below!

Format

With regards to the format, the event will involve a simple double elimination bracket. Bearing this in mind, the following are the very first matches in the upper bracket where all the teams will start:

  • The Guard vs Sentinels
  • Shopify Rebellion vs Cloud9
  • NRG vs 100 Thieves
  • FaZe Clan vs Evil Geniuses

For those unaware, a double elimination bracket means that teams have a single lifeline before being elimination. A loss in the Winners’ Bracket sends a team to the Lower Bracket where a loss will eliminate a team and their chance of making Champions.

With regards to match length, all matches will be BO3 except for the Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final which will be BO5.

Predictions

Heading into this event, most people would look at the Circuit Points, yet these may come across as misleading.

Naturally, the likes of The Guard may be the highest in points, but haven’t looked too strong since falling off on the international stage. Yet, they’ve always done well in their region.

For those unaware, perhaps the most exciting team to watch is the likes of Sentinels. After signing “shroud” many wonder how this team will perform.

Otherwise, this event looks to be incredible competitive depending on how the teams show up – the likes of NRG, Cloud9 and FaZe Clan for example have all looked impressive at times.

Especially considering that only one team will qualify for Champions, the competition will likely reach another level. The winner will join OpTic Gaming and XSET in Istanbul this September.
