While on PC, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has found difficulty as an esport; on mobile, it’s a completely different story. In fact, PUBG Mobile has quickly risen to become one of the leading mobile esports scenes which are continuing to capitalize on its growing popularity. Hosting multiple Pro Leagues across the entire world, we’ll be taking a look at the Spring Split 2020 of the PUBG Mobile Indonesia Pro League, right in the middle of the Regular Season. With a tonne to discuss, keep reading to learn more about this upcoming segment of the PUBG Mobile Pro League aslo known as PMPL Indonesia.

Organized by PUBG Corporation and Tencent Games, the event will span a staggering 23 days; running from the 6th of March all the way to the 29th. Entirely based on 4-man-rosters, or Squads, the Indonesian venue of Jakarta will be hosting an equally exciting number of teams tallied to the number of 24. Half of these teams have been invited, while the other half had to find their way through the Playoff Qualifier Groups as hosted by the PMPL Indonesia earlier on this year. Let’s now take a quick glance at the organizations below:

  • Siren Esports

As stated earlier, the teams all qualified by fighting their way through the Open Qualifiers, with six originating from each of the two groups. Everyone has earned their spot in at the PUBG Mobile Pro League – Spring Split 2020: Indonesia Regular Season.

After registering the teams, we may now dive straight into the format adapted to the almost month-long competition. The 24 squads will be competing in Indonesia, together with their mandatory substitute, through a total of 4 weeks of League play. Split into three groups following a completely randomised draw, a League Round Robin will take place. This means that each team will be playing 12 matches per week. Following each week, referred to as a round, points will be tallied up depending on the amount of kills and placements achieved across all of the matches. Due to this, a strong performance from each game will be pivotal to securing the higher placements at the tournament.

What exactly are they playing for?

In this particular case, the teams will be desperately performing in order to not place last – specifically at the bottom 8 of the table. The top 16 teams, on the other hand, will be enjoying a well-deserved seed into the PUBG Mobile Pro League – Spring Split 2020: Indonesia Finals.: it’s here that a total of $146,000 will be placed on the line. So while the prize may be moreso prideful here, the greater battle awaits following this hurdle that must be overcome.

Bearing these stakes in mind, we can expect an excitingly narrow skill gap, where each of the 96 players in the competition can have an effect. While no official schedule has been released yet for the PUBG Mobile event, the following are the three drawn groups:

GROUP A:

  • Dranix Avenger,
  • EVOS Esports,
  • Onic Esports,
  • Island of Gods,
  • Louvre gaming,
  • Geek Fam,
  • Alter Ego,
  • DG Esports

Where can I watch the PMPL Indonesia stream?

One can expect a high-quality, Indonesian stream on their Facebook as follows: The League stage will be held in a Studio Setting in Jakarta and games can be viewed via the PUBG Mobile Indonesia official page. The livestream will only be on Facebook as per the official post.  Regardless, a high-quality, live and streamed event should be available to view from any corner of the globe, as we’ve come to expect from the PMLP ID, with this Spring League being no exception.

Predictions

The PUBG Mobile Pro Leagues being held across the world are incredible additionals to the competitive PUBG Mobile competitive calendar – so the question calls; who’s most likely to walk away with first place at the PUBG Mobile Pro League – Spring Split 2020: Indonesia Regular Season?

The most reliable statistics available are probably from last year’s PUBG Mobile Club Open – Fall Split Global Finals where Bigetron took the first place. So, Reigning world champions, Bigetron will kick off their title defense this week as they start their journey at PMPL Indonesia.

Also, we can rely on the stats provided from the PUBG Mobile Indonesia National Championship 2019, where $66,000 was on the line for many of the same teams present now. It was here that EVOS Esports, Bigetron RA and RRQ RYU finished first, second and third in that order. Since then they may have had some shaky performances, but when the prize gets serious, so do EVOS Esports as in that situation, they managed to come out on top with 180 total points – 15 more than second place.

Outside them as the favorites on paper, this is a brand new year of competitive PUBG Mobile, so I wouldn’t take anything for granted. With PUBG Mobile earning more investments, larger prize pools and higher viewerships, organizations like for example Onic Esports with their fearsome player “Matthew” will find that it’s the perfect time to rise to the opportunity.
