The time has come for the fifth season of the Thailand-based 2020 RoV Pro League, one of the most important events for Arena of Valor professionals teams that are based in Thailand.
The official prize pool for the RoV Pro League Summer Event is 10.000.000 THB with a solid 6.000.000 reserved for the winning team. Individual prizes are handed out as well, with 40.000 to the MVP of the Pro League as the biggest one.
The winner will not merely be crowned champion of the 2020 RoV Pro League, but also qualify for the Arena of Valor World Cup 2020. This is the biggest event on the Arena of Valor 2020 calendar and offers an extra incentive for the qualified teams to perform well.
How To Qualify for the Main Event
Eight of the leading professional Age of Valor teams in Thailand participate in this year’s RoV Pro League Summer, with Buriam United Esports and Bazaar Gaming as two of the most notable ones. Scroll further down to see a full list of RoV League teams. This King of Glory league is a franchising league, which means that all teams are automatically qualified and none of them will face relegation based on results
The eight teams bring a total of 52 players to the tournament, with 50 of those native to Thailand. The remaining two players are JJak from South Korea and Win from Thailand who both represent Talon Esports.
Tournament Format and Structure
The tournament will be held from January 31 until the playoffs commence in late March 2020. The group stage is dragged out over seven weeks whereas the playoffs will happen in quick succession. All group stage matches will be played at the Garena Esports Studio in Bangkok, with an upgrade to the Garena World 2020 @ Bitec Bangna scheduled for the playoffs.
The group stage features a Doble Round-Robin format, which means that all competing teams will face each other twice. That makes for a total of 14 matches for each team spread over seven weeks. All matches will be played in the Best of 5 format, and each team awarded 1 point for a win. In case of a tie, all matches will be decided by a Best of 3 tiebreaker.
After the group stage ends, the four teams with the most points will qualify for the playoffs. The playoffs are organized with a Double-Elimination bracket, which means that any team will have to lose twice to be eliminated from the competition. Teams, therefore, get a second chance at glory, no matter whether they lose their first or second match.
The four qualifying teams all step into the Upper Bracket where all matches are decided in a Bo5-format. The losing teams in the first playoff round will descend to the Lower Bracket where games are decided ina Bo3-format. The two in the Upper Bracket first round will face each other in the Upper Bracket Finals, with the loser getting an extra chance in the Lower Bracket Finals against the remaining team.
The finals will be played in a Bo7 format. The winner secures qualification to the Arena of Valor World Cup 2020.

Predictions
The RoV Pro League Summer is a yearly tournament and not necessarily easy to predict. However, with the Double-Robin format in the Group Stage and the Double-Elimination structure in the Playoffs, the best teams are likely to prevail. A lot of matches will be played, which tends to favor the better teams by reducing variance. It also makes it more difficult for the outsiders to cause an upset.
Buriram United Esports won last year’s RoV Season 4 tournament, scoring an impressive 38 points in the group stage. They were also undefeated in the playoffs and ended them with a total record of 7-2. They also finished the Season 3 Group Stage with the most points, although they faltered in the playoffs losing both the Upper Bracket and Lower Bracket finals. Overall, Buriram United Esports should be the favorites to retain the championship, although ahq e-Sports Club has put up decent performances in recent years as well.
