The League of Legends 2020 season is well underway, and the time has now come for the 2020 LoL Champions Korea. The LCK Spring 2020 began on February 5 and will run over the coming months. After the initial Group Stage, where each of the teams faces each other twice in a Double-Robin format, the bottom two teams will drop down to the LCK Summer 2020 Promotion tournament. The five best teams qualify for the Spring Playoffs, with the Top 4 qualifying for the Rift Rivals 2020 and the eventual winner going to the Mid Season Invitational 2020. Additionally, the LCK 2020 prize pool awards all participating teams, as well as a number of individual players:
- 1st place: $93.798
- 2nd place: $56.279
- 3rd place: $28.139
- 4th place: $18.760
- 5th place: $14.070
- 6th-10th place: $9.380 each
How to qualify for the Main Event
The LCK Spring is a yearly league with at least eight returning teams from the previous LCK Summer season in 2019. The remaining two teams were decided in the LCK Summer Promotion 2020 playoffs, where the bottom two teams from the LCK Spring 2019 competed against the top two teams from the CK Summer 2019. APK Prince and Hanwha Life Esports qualified through this path, while the remaining eight teams are returnees from last year’s LCK Spring.
Tournament format
The Group Stage is organized around a ten-week long Double Round Robin format, where all the participating teams play against each other twice. All Group Stage matches are Best of 3, while the top 5 teams from the regular season qualify for the playoffs. The Bottom 2 teams are in danger of relegation, as they will have to play in the Summer Promotion tournament against two teams from the CK Summer League.
The playoffs move to a Single Elimination King of the Hill format. All matches are Best of 5, apart from the Wild Card match which is played as Best of 3. The top four teams qualify for the Rift Rivals 2020, while the winning team secures the lucrative qualification to the Mid Season Invitational 2020.

Predictions
SK Telecom 1, who has now been renamed as T1, won the LCK Summer 2019 tournament last year. However, most experts see Gen.G Esports and DragonX as the main favorites to win the league this year and secure the lucrative qualification to the Midseason Invitational 2020. APK Prince is not left many chances by the analysts, with most predicting them to drop down to the Summer Promotion tournament. The tournament is now underway, and with the action spanning over 10 weeks, we can expect a lot of upsets along the way.
