The 2020 Garena Challenger Series Spring begins on February 13th, following a brief delay caused by the “corona virus” outbreak. The live tournament is the first major Arena of Valor tournament hosted by Garena in 2020, with the Lan Finals scheduled to take place at the Garena E-Sports Stadium in Taiwan. The AoV 2020 tournament features all the best teams based in Taiwan. This is the sixth Challenger Series season organized by Garena and it promises to be an exciting one.

How to Qualify for the Main Event
Most of the teams participating in the 2020 Garena Challenger Spring series are returnees from last year’s Garena Challenger Series Summer 2019 tournament. Flash Wolves, MAD Team, ONE Team, Hong Kong Attitude, and MS Esports all qualified on this parameter, while Most Outstanding Player gained promotion during last year’s proceedings. Garena started hosting the KoG series in 2017 and since then, there has been a promotion and relegation system in place that regulates the qualified teams from season to season.
Tournament format
Featuring a total of 6 teams, the tournament organizers have opted for a Double-Robin format in the Group Stage, where all the participating teams will face each other twice over a total of 11 weeks. All matches are played in a Best of 5 formats.
Once we enter the playoffs, a Single Elimination King of the Hill format is introduced. Matches are still played in a Best of 5 formats, although this is changed in the Grand Final, which will be played in a Best of 7 Format. Although some confusion has been caused by the announced delay to the tournament, the Grand Final is scheduled to take place on an undecided date in May 2020.
Regular match
This regular game will be played in a three-round system. Each team in the league will play three games against each other. Each game will take five games and win three games (Best of Fives (hereinafter referred to as BO5)), and win three games in BO5 first. Team won 1 win. After the regular season, the top 4 teams in the number of wins enter the playoffs.
Playoffs
The bubbling competition will be used. The team with the fourth place in the league and the team with the third-place will play the Bo5 series. The winner will play with the team with the second place in the Bo5 series. The final runner-up will be the Bo7 series. Competition, and then elected the current league champion.
AWC World Cup
The champion team will be qualified for the AWC World Cup. The second place is selected by the second to fifth place of the four teams in the spring game.

Predictions
This is the sixth season of the Taiwanese Garena Challenger Series, and we have now become familiar with most of the teams. However, last year’s Spring and Summer series give a good indication of how deep the field has become – there are multiple competitive teams here who could possibly challenge for the title. For example, Hong Kong Attitude finished a disappointing 6th in last year’s Spring Series, before exploding for an impressive win in the Summer Series. MAD Team and ONE Team have probably been the most consistent teams, and we would expect them to do well here, but it really is an unpredictable tournament with multiple competitive teams.
