This upcoming weekend we’ll be having one of the biggest Rocket League events in Europe. This is because the RLCS X Spring European Major is just around the corner. The event will feature some of the best teams in the region, all competing for the regional title. Here’s our full tournament guide of the event:

Tournament’s background

The RLCS X Spring European Major is the biggest European Rocket League event to happen yet. It will feature 9 of the best teams according to the rankings, as well as an underdog team from the wildcard event. $100,000 USD are up for grabs, as well as RLCS Circuit Rankings Points, which will contribute to the European Leaderboard.

How to qualify for the main event

For the most part, teams participating in this tournament got their spot via their Spring Ranking. This meant that the top 9 teams of Spring would get a spot at the European Major. However, the 10th team got their spot through The Grid Wildcard, a tough competition between other teams from Europe.

Prize distribution

There will be a total of $100,000 to be split between all participating teams. Here is a list of how the prize pool will be spread:

  • 1st – $36,000
  • 2nd – $18,000
  • 3rd-4th – $10,000
  • 5th-8th – $5,000
  • 9th-10th – $3,000

Tournament Format

Group Stage:

  • 10 teams are split into 2 groups of 5
  • These teams will play in a group round robin best of 5 format
    • In the case of a tie, game difference will be the main tiebreaker, followed by the head to head
  • The top 4 teams advance to playoffs
  • The 5th placing team gets eliminated

Playoffs:

  • Single elimination bracket
  • All Matches to be played in a best of 7 (including Grand Final)

Predictions

This is probably going to be the most stacked European event in a while, meaning that the games in this tournament are going to be very close. Recently we’ve had teams like Team Queso and Guild Esports on the rise, so they definitely have the highest odds of success at the moment. That being said, Rocket League esports is very different from other esports, which could mean that any underdog team can take out some of the best. In the end, we’ll just have to see who plays the best and comes out on top!
