Nathan Bonello

This next weekend we’ll be seeing the biggest Rocket League event yet! The RLCS Season X Winter European Major is on the horizon and we can’t wait for it to kick off. Here’s all the details you need to know:

Tournament’s background

The current RLCS Season, RLCS Season X is the second season in 2020, which is crossing over to 2021. This season has featured multiple new changes with regards to the RLCS system, as well as league play. In these events, teams collect points which accumulate to whether they qualify or not, for the World Championship.

How to qualify for the main event

The majority of the teams participating are in the event due to their current point ranking in the RLCS. Some other teams qualified through qualification tiebreaker, or The Grid Wildcard.

Prize distribution

A total of $100,000 to be distributed between all 12 teams with the first placing team receiving a huge sum. This is how the prize money will be distributed:

Europe & North America:

  • 1st – $36,000
  • 2nd – $18,000
  • 3rd – $12,000
  • 4th – $10,000
  • 5th-6th – $5,000
  • 7th-8th – $3,000
  • 9th-12th – $2,000

RLCS Season X Winter European Major Format

The format for this event is quite standard with regards to its layout. It follows a very simple Double-elimination bracket format which features the classic bracket reset feature if a loser bracket team beats the winner bracket team in the Grand Final. Every match is a best of 5, except the ones after the Winners Quarterfinals and round 2’s as those are Best of 7.

Predictions

Predictions are extremely hard for these types of major events. That being said, if we take a closer look at the Point ranking in Europe, Team BDS are clear leaders. They have recently won week 4 of the Grid, as well as the EU Regional event 3. Team BDS are the clear favourites for this event, but with so many talented teams, nothing is certain!
