How to Watch FIFAe Continental Cup 2022 – teams, format, schedule, streams, predictions

FIFA

While competitive FIFA is awaiting a new title release for the western world, that isn’t the case for the other side of the world. Accordingly, the FIFAe Continental Cup 2022 is a Tier 1 event celebrating Asian FIFA, played on a separate title. Kicking off in the coming month, read on as we discuss How to Watch below!

Event Background

As we’ll elaborate, in the Asian continent, the esports of FIFA is played under the title of FIFA Online 4, a title purpose built for the region. This is similar to how other titles such as Arena of Valor have a sister title for different regions.

Accordingly, the FIFAe Continental Cup is focusing on Asian competition. Notably, most of the Global Series events across the years don’t often feature the continent as it is considered a minor region for the world of competitive FIFA.

Taking place online, EA Games is offering $300,000 of prize pool for the community to show out and prove who’s the best across China, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.

Featuring 1v1 competition, the tournament is said to kick off on the 1st October to span across the entire weekend.

Indeed, the top 16 teams in the continent have been invited to compete, find them listed below:

  • 1 – FaZe Clan, Freecs, MS Chonburi, R&F Ronly
  • 2 – GRATZ, DIH Esport, Crazy Win, Daejeon Hana Citizen
  • 3 – TEAMPLAYxGaming, TS-SC, MiTR Coffee, Tony Tonyy
  • 4 – PSMGaming, Manchester City, Remax Thailand, ProGramer

Naturally, the above list is based on the FIFA Online 4 Series Ranking.

Format

Accordingly, the format is rather simple for this exciting event.

Firstly, we’ll start off with a Knockout Stage. Here, the 16 teams will be randomly divided into two groups of 8 each – considering how each group has 2 teams from each pot.

Each group will play through a double elimination bracket, where top 2 in each group advance to the final stage. All matches will be BO5.

Considering this, only the top 4 teams will be present in the Final Stage. In this epic conclusion, a single elimination bracket with BO5 matches will determine who the champion is, crowned the best in the continent.

Predictions

In terms of predictions, we’d like to take a look at the ranking points of teams heading into this exciting event here:

  • #1 – FaZe Clan
  • #2 – Freecs
  • #3 – MS Chonburi
  • #4 – R&F Ronly
  • #5 – GRATZ

For those unaware, FaZe Clan also finished second place at last year’s iteration of the FIFA Continental Cup.

Otherwise, we’re not sure how to predict this event other than to say that this global approach to esports is always a key to success.

Accordingly, we’re interested to see how the viewership compares to other regions and whether or not Asian FIFA has risen compared to the major regions.
