Gambit crowned champions of IEM – How did they do it?

It all started with a victory against Team One in the Play-in stage. After this, Gambit got a win against Mousesports in a best of 3, and advanced onto the group stage. This is where they were grouped with teams like G2 Esports, Astralis, as well as Heroic in group A. First up on their list was none other than the Evil Geniuses, which took them down into the losers bracket. There, Gambit had to climb the ladder against several solid teams, starting with a rematch against Mousesports. Gambit won seamlessly, and went on to even beat Heroic 2-1 in the 2nd round. Then came the international squad of G2 Esports, where Gambit struggled, but eventually managed to take them down as well to qualify.

Despite this, Gambit played their best and pulled off an upset to get into the semifinals. After this win, Gambit’s next opponent was none other than their CIS brothers under Team Spirit. The series went in a similar manner to their recent best of 3’s, having Gambit being challenged roughly, however Gambit were stronger, and won 2-0.
