With LEC’s playoffs kicking off these past few days, we saw G2 & Fnatic going through to Worlds 2020 after a great performance in the LEC Semifinals

G2 have had a very worrisome Summer Split in 2020, however in the last few weeks of the Summer season, they managed to bring it back, and perform up to expectations and make it into the Summer split playoffs. Even though they were placed against MAD Lions, G2 were still heavily favored due to their recent improvements. It feels like G2 may have found their groove again and could get a really good placement at this year’s World Championship, or even better, win it.

Fnatic on the other hand have had quite a decent Summer Split. Beginning their group stage really well, although losing a couple of matches in between. Nonetheless they still qualified for the playoffs and made it to Worlds. Here are some thought from Fnatic’s main top laner, Bwipo, regarding how it would have felt if Fnatic did not make it to Worlds:

G2 & Fnatic through to Worlds – Interesting Storylines

One interesting fact to bear in mind is that Rekkles will be attending his 6th World Championship, equal to sOAZ’s appearances and also the most Worlds appearances for a European.

Qualified teams for Worlds 2020

So far, we have 7 teams confirmed for the 2020 League of Legends world championship. 2 from NA (Team Liquid, Flyquest), 2 from LPL (Top Esports, JD Gaming), and 3 from EU (G2, Fnatic, Rogue). Quite a solid lineup so far, and it is very exciting to see who will manage to make it out and qualify for this year’s Worlds.
