G2 and Gambit win BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2021 – How did they do it?

G2’s Journey

G2 started it all against team Endpoint, which has recently lost FlameZ from the lineup. This put G2 in an advantage, and it was shown in the series score as G2 won it 2-0 to get into the round of 8 versus OG. OG were quite a tough opponent to play, let alone beat. They had just come from a significant victory against Astralis, and the team had just finalized its roster. Despite a very challenging series, G2 were the best performing team, and won the series 2-1. G2’s final boss on their side of the bracket was the talented Team Spirit from the CIS region. Spirit won the first map (Mirage) 16-6, showcasing G2’s weaknesses on that map. Despite this, they came back seamlessly on the other 2 maps and grabbed the win, as well as the Spring Finals spot.

Gambit’s Journey

Then on the other bracket we had Gambit, which kicked it off with a 2-0 victory over NASR Esports. Then came a challenging FURIA, but Gambit were just better overall, and won the series 2-1 to the final stage of the bracket. Here they met with Heroic, and it was a rematch from the ESL Pro League Season 13. These 2 teams have shown explicitly that they bring out some of the best matches, and they did it again with this series. In the end it was a close series, but Gambit came out on top, winning it 2-1 against the Danes.

This win gets these teams a spot in the main event for BLAST Premier, the Spring Finals. Hopefully they can keep their performance as it is and get an even better result there!
