Fortnite has certainly been relatively quiet recently, as the last update came in the form of Chapter 2 Season 1 last October, and the community has been waiting for new content for a while now. That all changes with Epic Games’ second season finally unveiled, bringing along with it new patch notes, map changes and further game-changing content which will affect both competitive and casual players. Unveiled primarily through the fortnite twitter account, a concise summary of Season 2 patch notes is present below.
Also referred to as update 12.00, Season 2 brings a considerable change to the periphery of the map, as the everpresent central and bare island now hosts a building at the top of which a concerning helipad lies – sadly, helicopters have not yet been confirmed in the fortnite season 2 patch notes, but speculation looks to see the exciting vehicle come soon!
This change attempts to make the central area rather dangerous, due to the open planes of water surrounding the hub of activity that may serve as a great vantage point. Speaking of which, as part of the fortnite season 2 map, an oil rig has cropped up right near Slurpy Swamp, though its cornered position reduces its potential impact on the gameplay.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 borrows an idea from CS:GO‘s playbook, imitating the interrogation mechanic provided by the tazer as players may now interrogate knocked down opponents, revealing the location of any surrounding teammates to you and your squad – a deadly tool, requiring no special weapon or perk, will certainly place an importance on sticking together in future competition, as an isolated knockdown could spell death for the entire squad.
That brings us to the weapon changes dictated by the Season 2 patch notes. Epic Games has decided to revive an array of suppressed weapons from Season 1, including the pistol, sniper, and AR. Contrasting the silenced weapons are the wildcards such as Boom Bows, Grapplers and C4 which should spice up competitive play quite a bit. While these were added, the Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle has found its way into the vault together with other guns; most notably a few color variants of the Submachine Gun and Rocket Launcher.
Beyond these essential changes, an array of smaller modifications and cosmetic updates have graced Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2:
- S2C2 Battle Pass: 1500 V-bucks, unlockable special variants by completing challenges and missions, new Skins such as Deadpool
- Addition of vaults, transporting players through the use of key cards
- Multiple bug fixes
- ‘Top Secret’ theme – special mission available to Battle Pass owners including Limited-Time Operations.
At the moment, the community is having mixed responses to epic games fortnite battle royale patch notes, as the game has received distasteful comments from personalities such as DrDisrespect; the overall quality of the patch can only be observed in the long-run.
