With the CDL Atlanta Homestand all wrapped up, statistics and cod league standings have all been updated before we head into the next event in L.A. Besides the escalation in viewership, the level of competition has also enjoyed rising heights – following the event, as expected, commotion is viral within the competitive Call of Duty scene, as there’s much to comment following the spectacle.
Let’s start by taking a look at the top 5 K/Ds of the event:
- Bradley “wuskin” Marshall – 1.55 (LND)
- McArthur “Cellium” Jovel – 1.34 (FZE)
- Denholm “Denz” Taylor – 1.23 (PRS)
- Cesar “Skyz” Bueno – 1.23 (FLR)
- Alex “Alexx” Carpenter – 1.21 (MNS)
In competitive Call of Duty, K/D may not be everything, but it reflects the slaying capability of the player as kills are rather useful to attain the win for the team. Unexpectedly, three players here helped FaZe Atlanta secure the event victory with the notable MVP performance in “Cellium”, topping his team with an impressive 1.34 K/D; bearing in mind that he did have an M4 in his hands. The presence of “wuskin” at the top is no surprise either, though it wasn’t enough to drag London further into the competition.
What is noticeable is the absence of any players from the Chicago Huntsmen roster. Finishing 3rd-4th, their failure to perform is evident here, failing their reputation as ‘slayers’ and conceding to doubts over whether they can top FaZe.
Here are the cod league standings for the CDL at the moment:
Optic Gaming Los Angeles has polarized the entire community with their performance. While they may be excused due to the tough competition they have encountered, many have pointed fingers at the flex-player in “JKap” and his unconvincing performance and prospects. It has been confirmed, however, that “Dashy” is swapping roles over to the MP5, to potentially establish the much-needed slaying for the roster. If they don’t perform in the upcoming event, its absolutely certain that a change will occur. The slow start isn’t anything new to the likes of “Kenny” and “Slasher” however, as they’re probably suffering flashbacks of last year’s season on 100Thieves, where they overcame a slow start to the year to go on and become te second top team in the game. Unfortunately for them, the coach that made all that possible in “Replays” has found a new home at FaZe Atlanta.
It’s also worth noting that the production value of the Atlanta Homestand trumped the previous two events, as the shortened round timers made for more visceral gameplay while allowing the event to pack more matches per day and reducing the number of advertisements. This paid dividends as the viewership climbed to 111,000 at one time; the CDL is certainly showing promise only a month in.
