Astralis pickup es3tag as 6th man on the roster

News

Nathan Bonello

We all know how Astralis is always creating the trend and changing the meta whenever it comes to Counter-Strike. Yesterday, Astralis introduced a new change but this time, it wasn’t something on the server. They have announced that es3tag will be joining the roster as their 6th man on the team.

His role on the squad will be as a substitute, and according to rules of multiple TO’s (Tournament organizers) he can be swapped in between maps. Zonic has mentioned that the main reason for the 6th man pickup is to keep all the players of the team as healthy as possible. Being one of the top teams in CS:GO it is required of you to make a lot of sacrifices, and travelling around the world, and sometimes it can be too much for a player.

One good example is ALEX, which had to leave the team due to travelling taking a toll on him, and now that leaves Vitality in a very shaky state. So good move for Astralis of prioritizing their players health first.

Why es3tag?

Es3tag has had a lot of success with the Heroic organization, and he can play almost every role that needs to be filled. He puts the team first and is always ready to make sacrifices.

Below is a video of Zonic explaining how they will integrate es3tag astralis with the squad:

When will he be joining the team?

es3tag will be joining Astralis, after his current contract with Heroic expires. This leads us to believe that FunPlus Phoenix had an incomplete agreement with Heroic in regards to their CS:GO team because of Astralis’ last-minute pickup.

Erik Askered, Heroic’s CEO has revealed that they will be making legal preparations after Astralis’ intervention with the sale of the team to FunPlus phoenix. However, according to Astralis’ CEO Nikolaj Nyholm, it is stated that both teams were notified about the signing.
