A ‘Trophy Case’ to be added to Clash?

News

Earlier this year, Riot Games released an update with the headlining feature of ‘Eternals’ to help players record their long-term achievements by boasting statistics and numbers. Clash is a recently added game mode in League of Legends, despite a history of problems, where competitive play takes place and memorable moments are made. Through a new potential update, Riot Games looks to provide a ‘Trophy Case’ lol to materialize all of those past accomplishments!

Mark, “Scruffy” Yetter, as a lead gameplay designer for Riot Games, announced the small feature on Twitter as it should be added with the in-game notice on COVID-19 and some Elite Balancing, as further elaborated on the game’s own ‘Dev Corner’ here: https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/dev/quick-gameplay-thoughts-march-20/

We’re still in the early days of Clash, so we’re learning a lot about what’s working and what needs improvement. One clear area to improve is around the trophies you earn for winning a tourney. It’s cool to be able to show off your clash wins in the profile and on SR, but when they go away at the start of the next tournament it’s erasing accomplishments that we want you to have forever.

We’re working to provide you with a permanent Clash “Trophy Case.” This new tab in the client will store all of the trophies, banners, and icons you’ve earned in Clash so you can go back and browse your past accomplishments.

To be available on the Clash Tab, apart from the usual upcoming schedule, one will possibly be able to look back at the winners of the previous tournament and also a match history – whether that’s impressive or not depends on the player.

This could certainly be a nice touch, allowing players to further pursue achievements to showcase to others in pride.

To end, the designer offered his sympathy to everyone being affected by COVID-19:

Personally, I hope you all are staying safe and sane. Let League be a place to compete but also a place where you can unwind or stay connected to your friends and family. I’ll see you on the Rift.

It’s comforting to see develops working on their games in times like these to give everyone something to look forward to when loading in. Do note that these remain potential additions to the title, with the announcement acting as a foreshadowing of what is to come.
