The Final Stages of ESL Pro League Season 11

News

9 Apr 2020

Nathan Bonello

ESL Pro League Season 11 has progressed quite a bit since we last spoke about it. We have the European Pro League in the 2nd stage, and we have the North American Pro League in the Playoffs.

Standings

Current standings for EU Pro League as of the 8th of April, are as follows:

  • Mousesports 3-0
  • Natus Vincere 2-1
  • Fnatic 2-1
  • Astralis 1-2
  • OG 1-2
  • FaZe Clan 0-3

Current Team performance

Mousesports, as predicted, have had an outstanding run in the 2nd stage of EPL. They have beaten teams like OG, FaZe and Na’Vi and their upcoming matches are versus Fnatic and Astralis. It surely won’t be easy for Mousesports, but they have certainly impressed us lately. This is one of their highlights versus FaZe Clan:

Astralis on the other hand seems to have suffered quite a bit since EPL moved to an online setting. They may have gotten a 4-1 score during the group stage, but now they are against much better teams. Their only win in the 2nd stage is versus FaZe and their losses were versus Natus Vincere and Fnatic.

These are the upcoming matches for EU Pro League:

8th April

  • Mousesports vs Fnatic
  • FaZe vs Na’Vi
  • Astralis vs OG

9th April

  • FaZe vs OG
  • Na’Vi vs Fnatic
  • Astralis vs Mousesports

With regards to North American Pro League, these are the current standings:

  • Team Liquid 3-2
  • Evil Geniuses 3-2
  • FURIA  3-2
  • MIBR 2-3
  • 100 Thieves 2-3
  • Swole Patrol 2-3

Now with NA EPL having only 1 group, ESL have decided to make it a lot shorter than EU Pro League. All teams in NA Pro League had a decent performance, some better than others, but there was not one team that completely dominated the group. Luckily for MiBR they managed to clutch up a spot in the lower bracket since they beat 100 Thieves and Swole Patrol in groups.

These are the upcoming matches for NA EPL:

  • Furia vs MiBR – 9th April
  • Team Liquid vs Evil Geniuses – 10th April

After these two matches, on the 11th of April there will be a lower bracket final between the winner of Furia vs MiBR and the loser of Team Liquid vs Evil Geniuses. And after that, the Grand Final will take place on the 12th.

Predictions

Considering the previous performance in the 2nd stage, it’s fair to say that Mousesports or Fnatic will be taking the victory in the European Pro League. They have both had a very good run and some unexpected upsets against very good teams. As for NA Pro League, MiBR have been in a slump, but they’ve shown that they have improved their game quite a bit. Will they be able to beat Furia? I think it’s too early to say, we’ll just have to wait and see how MiBR will fare in this intense brazilian match-up.
