RLCS Season 9 Week 6 Recap and status of the World Championship

News

RLCS Season 9 Week 6 was extremely chaotic, especially in EU RLCS where we saw Mousesports cleaning out Veloce, a very intense and close series between Vitality and Dignitas, and we also got a glimpse of what FC Barcelona has to offer this season. As for NA RLCS we had teams like G2 have a very disappointing result versus Ghost, and a very outstanding performance from SpaceStation. We also saw a very intense NRG vs Cloud9 as a final match of the day which led to Cloud9 sweeping NRG and taking the win.

Week 6 held the following matches for EU RLCS:

  • FC Barcelona 3- 2 Singularity
  • TSM 0 – 3 Endpoint
  • Veloce 0 – 3 Mousesports
  • Reciprocity 3 – 1 AS Monaco
  • Renault Vitality 3 – 2 Dignitas

Currently topping the European leaderboard is none other than 2019’s Season 7 RLCS champions, Renault Vitality. They currently lead with a 6-1 scoreline with a positive goal difference of 10 after the RLCS Season 9 Week 6.

Week 6 held the following matches for NA RLCS:

  • SpaceStation Gaming 3 – 0 Flight
  • Eunited 0 – 3 Susquehanna Soniqs
  • Ghost Gaming 3 – 1 G2 Esports
  • Pittsburgh Knights 2 – 3 Rogue
  • NRG 0 – 3 Cloud 9

3 teams are currently tied with a 5-1 scoreline, but G2 remains in the lead due to them being 1 point above, in goal difference. Cloud9 had an outstanding performance versus NRG, and if they manage to keep it up, they might be one of the strongest contenders we’ll have at the RLCS Season 9 World Championship

RLCS World Championship canceled

On the 5th of March, Psyonix announced that they will be canceling the RLCS Season 9 World Championship in Dallas, due to health concerns, mainly being COVID-19. This is one of many esports events that have been canceled in the past few weeks. The situation is very unfortunate but it’s fair to say that Psyonix has the safety and health of their professional players, staff, and fans as their main priority.

The rest of season 9 will be played online and even though it will not be identical to the previous World Championships it is sure to be one hell of an event filled with exceptional Rocket League.
