Rainbow Six: Siege’s Test Server Update Y5S1.2: Weakening Defensive Operators

News

With patch Y5S1.1 rolling out just under two weeks ago, and fixing an abundance of bugs and aspects of level designs, Ubisoft has revealed a new test server which might just polarize the community as it brings considerable changes to certain operators. The Y5S1.2 patch looks to shake things up in a radical way, as outlined below.

Recently, it’s been discussed within the community that the competitive and casual sides of Rainbow Six: Siege games have unanimously felt that defending is certainly more favoured than attacking – Ubisoft has potentially responded to this complaint by targeting defensive operators.

Here’s Ubisoft’s balancing act:

  • Buck

Claymores taking the place of frag grenades, while increasing skeleton key magazine capacity.

  • Caveira

Added Razor Holographic Sight option to her M12.

  • Jager

Now a ‘2-speed/2-armor operator’ – this is a significant nerf to his absurd speed and bullet-sponging ability prior.

  • Mozzie

Removed Super Shorty secondary.

  • Ying

Increased number of Candelas to 4 from 3, replaced Claymores with Smoke Grenades and increased T-95 LSW damage to 46 from 43.

  • TCSG12 (Kaid, Goyo weapon)

Added additional magazine to the TCSG12, reducing TCSG12 damage to 55 from 84.

These are considerable changes to these operators, with the most notable one being Jager. Slowing him down will change the pace of the game tremendously – Jager mains aren’t too happy with this. Looking at this update from the competitive side is both infuriating and exciting: having operators switched up like this must be annoying to have to adapt to instantly while the new possibilities for Attack should allow for more balanced maps.

On the competitive side of things, one can expect to see less Jagers overall and potentially more Yings.

Included in the patch are a few bug fixes which aren’t too major, but we’ll include some of  them below to conclude the article:

  • Fixed – barricade replication issues that caused rubberbanding and/or throwable objects to bounce off destroyed barricades
  • Fixed – game boots with DX11 when players manually select the Vulkan executable in the Steam installation folder
  • Fixed – Dynamic Play button does not update properly when the last match was on an Event/Discovery playlist
  • Fixed – players can clip inside excavators in EXT Construction Site of Oregon
