PGS Europe Finals Tournament Background

The PGS Berlin Qualifiers take place this weekend and we’ve got 24 teams battling it out for an invitation to the PUBG Berlin Finals starting at the end of March. The PUBG Global Series 2020 looks set to grow in size and reputation after the huge success of the 2019 PUBG Nation’s Cup and PUBG Global Championship last year.

The 2019 events were a huge success and there is a lot of expectation this year with improvements across the board for players and viewers. In a bid to grow the population of PUBG fans around the world, the structure of the tournaments has grown dramatically with increased revenues for teams and better opportunities for third-party event organizers.

These qualifiers and the global tournament finals will bring the excitement of PUBG to all corners of the world. All four of the PGS final events will be hosted in major cities across the globe during April, July, October, and the PGC in November. The 24 teams in action this weekend will be hoping to book their ticket to the first of the finals in April.

2020 promises a lot of entertaining PUBG live action, with all the best eSport teams given plenty of opportunities to get their hands on that sought-after invitation to the PGC in November. We’ve got all the up-to-date information and tournament details below, so read on to find out more about the qualifiers to the PGS Berlin Europe Finals 2020.

How the Teams Qualify

A total of 15 teams from the PEL (PUBG Europe League) Phase 3 and Promotion tournaments have been invited this weekend. The remaining nine other teams join them from previous qualifiers including four from the Online EU West Qualifier, three from the Online EU East Qualifier and two more from the Online Middle East and Africa Qualifier.

Tournament Format

The 24 teams are divided into three groups A, B and C and each day will be played under a round-robin style. A total of 18 matches will be played over the three days with Group A vs Group B on day one, Group B vs Group C on day two and Group A vs Group C on the final day. After all the matches have been completed, the team’s overall points will be listed in a single group ranked from 1st to 24th. The top six will advance through to the PGS Berlin Europe Finals that begins on March 31st.

PGS Europe Finals Prize Pool

All teams will walk away with a prize and $60,000 has been made available for all teams outside of the top six. Teams who finish in positions from 7th to 16th will be rewarded with $4,000 each and teams who finish 17th to 24th will be rewarded with $2,500 each. Predictions

It’s more than likely that we’ll see mostly PEL qualified teams advancing through to the finals, and the bookies are backing this suggestion as well. Team Liquid, TSM, Omaken Sports and WTSG (the recent winners of the GLL Season 4, you can read our recap article about GLLS4 here) are the four teams being touted to come out on top at the end of the weekend.

These teams have all been highlighted as potential winners by the expert hosts over at PUBG.com, and we have to agree. The experience of the teams coming through the PEL will certainly help but there is always a surprise or two in tournaments like these. The underdogs coming through from the qualifiers will be looking to show their worth and this should make for some exciting PUBG action across the weekend!
