Fnatic and Team Liquid Champions of EPL Season 11

News

This weekend we saw the conclusion of ESL Pro League Season 11 in which Team Liquid were the Victors for NA Pro League and Fnatic were the Victors of EU Pro League. This event has shown that Team Liquid are still the superior NA team, as many were doubting their abilities, heading into EPL Season 11 winners. And as for Fnatic, it has made everyone realize that they’ve also got the ability to beat super teams like Astralis and Mousesports.

How did they do it?

Team Liquid had an okay start to NA Pro League with a 1st place finish with a 3-2 score line. Furia and Evil Geniuses had the same score as Liquid, but they have a better round difference overall so they took the 1st place spot. Afterwards came playoffs in which they were against the 2nd placing team, Evil Geniuses. After a close series, Liquid managed to clutch it out with a 2 map lead and that progressed them to the finals whereas for Evil Geniuses they dropped down to the lower bracket to meet Furia. EG swept Furia to advance to the Finals and have a rematch versus Team Liquid. Liquid then won 3 maps (1 map was given to Team Liquid by default since they came from the upper bracket) versus Evil Geniuses to be Champions of NA EPL. The Liquid roster seems to be at the top of their game at the moment, and we can’t wait to see them perform at the next online event.

Fnatic had a rough start to EU Pro League, they kicked off the event with a loss versus BIG, which increased doubt in Fnatic fans as they progressed through the tournament. However the Swedish roster came back stronger than ever in their match versus Complexity, where they showed dominance throughout the whole series. Then came matches versus North and ForZe which they both managed to beat and after that came the series versus Natus Vincere, the world’s no.1 team currently. The series ended with a clean sweep in Na’Vi’s favor with a 16-11 and 16-10 win. Despite their 2 losses, they still managed to achieve 2nd place in their group as they had won their head to head versus ForZe.

They then had to proceed through the 2nd stage of EPL which consisted of a group which had the following teams: Fnatic, Astralis, Mousesports, FaZe, OG and Na’Vi. Fnatic completely dominated the 2nd stage group with 4 wins which led them to the Grand Finals directly. There they met with Mousesports, one of the teams that were favourites to win EU Pro League Season 11. However after a long and thorough 5 game series, Fnatic came out on top, winning 3 maps over the European squad.

Even though ESL Pro League went through some last minute changes due to the current situation, it was still a great event overall. Sure there may have been a couple upsets on the way, but we EPL still managed to produce excellent Counter-Strike that we have long desired. We cannot wait for the next upcoming events as this is a perfect time for esports to showcase itself.
