ESL has requested that all teams participating in the ESL One: Road to Rio vote on the coaching eligibility rule.
In an email that has been sent out by ESL, teams have around 24 hours to respond with a simple answer of yes or no, in terms of the possibility of coaches being allowed in the server and talking to players during matches throughout the Rio Major.
This will mean that there will need to be a unanimous approval of all participating teams in the event. It is critical to bear in mind that if even just one team votes against the coaching rule, the coaches will not be allowed inside the game server and will be unable to speak to players during their matches.
This vote has received a lot of criticism, especially from the pros themselves. This is what Team Liquid’s EliGE had to say about the rule:
ESL One: Road to Rio started yesterday, the 22nd of April and getting a good result here will award teams Regional Major Rankings points which will be acclimated towards the ESL One Rio Major.
