Cloud9 started their journey in the Spring split of 2020 by trading away Dennis “Svenskeren” Johansen, their main jungler to Evil Geniuses. They had also announced that Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi, their main ADC, would be stepping away from the team as well. Sneaky has been under the Cloud9 organization since April 6, 2013 and is currently an advisor for their LCS team. In response to these player changes, Cloud9 acquired Vulcan from Team Dignitas and Zven which was a free agent.
But how did they do it?
With regards to LCS performance, Cloud9 had the most dominant split in LCS history, going 17-1 in the regular season, with their only loss being against TSM. Cloud9 completely dominated every team they were up against and were a sight to behold. They did not hold back in the playoffs and Finals as they kept their dominant fashion until their final match of the split versus FlyQuest.
And to add more to Cloud9’s success, Blaber, their main jungler, received the MVP award of the 2020 Spring Split for his outstanding performance all season long.
What’s next?
The next objective for Cloud9 is definitely MSI, which will be their first international event versus teams from all around the world. After MSI, Cloud9 will certainly eye themselves on winning another title in the Summer Split where they could show another dominant performance as they did with the Spring split.
