CDL Los Angeles Homestand Preview: The Battle at the Bottom

News

4 Mar 2020

The competitive Call of Duty community is gearing itself up for another week of the Call of Duty League. thanks to the Los Angeles event. This Homestand will involve the local rivalry between L.A Guerrillas and OpTic Gaming L.A, as they’ll battle over the local turf. However, this event won’t be answering the question of who is the best team in the game, as it’s incredibly likely that Atlanta FaZe will take it – the question on everyone’s mind is understanding who exactly sits at the bottom of the league right now. In my opinion, we’re in for a Battle of the Bottom, where roster changes look to switch things up.

Roster Changes: ACHES and Enable out

LA Guerrillas, Seattle Surge, New York Subliners and Optic Gaming L.A are four out of five of the lowest-ranked teams in the Call of Duty League as of this moment; earning some points will be essential for the future of their rosters. Guerrillas have already dropped “Aches” and “Lacefield” as substitutes, swapped out for “Spart” and “Vivid” – two new amateur pros and honestly, it’s not looking too great for them. Meanwhile, Seattle Surge did bench “Enable”, rightfully so, putting “Pandur” in the starting roster and the Subliners subbed “Zero” for “Happy”. In all of this chaos, the only team to not make a change is OGLA – if they don’t perform now, they’ll be slamming on the panic button immediately.

For this event, to me at least, finding out who wins won’t be that important – it will be interesting to see if maybe Dallas, Florida or Minnesota can challenge Atlanta FaZe, but seeing who will make it out from the bottom is certainly the theme for this event. Not earning any points at this event, especially if you’re OGLA, could be disastrous.

Changing rosters just before an event puts a team at a disadvantage and everyone is looking for redemption within this incredibly competitive league. Be sure to tune in on the two days of action from the 7th to the 8th of March!

Predictions

  • 7th-8th: L.A Guerillas and NY Subliners
  • 5th-6th: Seattle Surge and Optic Gaming L.A
  • 3rd-4th: FLA Mutineers and Min ROKKR
  • 2nd: Dallas Empire
  • 1st: Atlanta Faze
