CDL Florida 2020 Online Preview – Sorting out the Middle

News

8 May 2020

Another two weeks have briskly flown by, as the competitive Call of Duty community gathers itself once again for another glorious weekend of online competition through the Call of Duty Florida 2020 Online Home Series. With $100,000 back on the line between 8 teams, let’s take a closer look as we pass the half-way mark of the season with the CDL Florida 2020 Preview.

The following eight, grouped teams are rearing to go from the 8th to the 10th of May together with their standing in the league:

GROUP A

  • Florida Mutineers (5)
  • Minnesota Rokkr (4)
  • New York Subliners (11)
  • Toronta Ultra (9)

GROUP B

  • OpTic Gaming LA (10)
  • Paris Legion (6)
  • Atlanta FaZe (3)
  • London Royal Ravens (7)

A tonne of storylines hang in the balance for this upcoming event, consisting of a group stage followed by a bracket. It’s an exciting time to be a Call of Duty fan; as all the action is undisturbed by the ongoing situation.

Group A asks two questions – is Florida still better than Minnesota and was New York’s phenomenal showing last event a fluke? Toronto Ultra will also look to return following a week of absence, and nobody’s too sure what they’ve been cooking up in the corner. The opening match-up between Florida and Minnesota will set the tone for the rest of the event.

Over in Group B, fate has Paris Legion taking on FaZe Atlanta. Deadlocked in the middle of the table, Paris has played multiple teams incredibly close and this week could be their chance to show up and upset FaZe. However, after last week, one can expect a ferociously determined FaZe, determined to win it all. Otherwise, OGLA don’t seem too threatening at the moment due to a recent roster switch with Chino swapping for Jkap. London are the so-called ‘dark horse’ for this event – not to be overlooked if matched with FaZe later on.

There is no clear favourite for this event: FaZe Atlanta, Florida Mutineers, Minnesota Rokkr and London Royal Ravens are all looking strong and confident. The only ones to count out would have to be OGLA – their struggles have defined their entire season.
